He might actually be the best, but he certainly doesn’t have much of a case.
Gurley was the 1st team All-Pro RB before signing his deal. He then responded to the signing by repeating as the 1st team All-Pro RB.
Over the last two years, Gurley has more yards, higher YPC, more receptions, more receiving yards, and most notably a whopping 40-18 edge in touchdowns.

I'd be on the Gurley too train if I believed he'd stay healthy. The evidence that's true is uh not great though. He's way too young for his knees to already be rotting out from under him.

And a Super Bowl appearance.

Uhhh his Super Bowl performance isn't exactly a point in his favor, you know.

Yea, I like Gurley over Elliott. But I don’t think Goff and the Rams offense are as dependent on Gurley as Dak and the Cowboys offense is with Elliott. And is probably the determining factor . Certainly his leverage.

They’ll regret this but whatever, 20+ years without a Lombardi speaks for itself. I just hope they can keep our defense together in a year or two.

Jerry’s crackin’, lol. No surprise, Johnny Walker talks tough.

I would say the constant run on 1st down as opposed to mixing things up makes the job of RB much harder. When defense knows what you are going to do it becomes a lot easier to defend. I think what Moore is putting in place will not only help Dak but help Zeke as well.

He doesn’t have leverage. None.

This is the team being very very kind.

IF Zeke didn't have any leverage, he'd be in camp and the Jones wouldn't bother even discussing contract, let alone actually making offers. Trust me he has leverage........

Put another way, replace Zeke with Heath.......

Gurley has 4547 career rushing yards for a 4.4 average. He also has almost 1900 receiving yards.

Zeke has 4048 career rushing yards with a 4.7 average and 1200 receiving yards.

Zeke has played one fewer year.

You are cherry picking if you choose the last two years for comparison. Zeke missed 6 games due to suspension and one where he sat.

The talent he bring is the leverage he does have. Dallas would not be making this offer if they did not feel he was important to their success. Clearly there is no benefit for Zeke holding out long term considering there is 2 years on his current deal by the same token Dallas know the importance of him being on the field.

LOL ....see my post, you beat me to it

The logic here for some is basically because the Rams made a mistake we are obligated to now exceed their mistake.

That’s bizarre.

For some it's little thinking other than "Zeke is great!" And "Pay Zeke!"

There's no higher level thinking of the cap and the consequences.

Madden Football.

We all knew this would happen, even though some of us were hopeful it wouldn’t :), but I don’t know why they didn’t wait until a few games into the season to fine him and try and gain more leverage. We can easily win our first 3 games with or without him.

I disagree with this strategy as well. It's overpaying for a position that shouldn't be overpaid, and it sets a bad precident for other players wanting to get paid early.

Leverage boys, Zeke sits and the season goes into the trash can and everyone knows this.

And you are cherry picking if you use the last three years. For a position that has literally proven that it declines by the carry, what measurement do you think is more relevant?
Gurley is the reigning, two-time consecutive first team All-Pro right now. Zeke’s agent has to put that in his pipe and smoke it.

I hope it’s like Jaylons contract in that he still finishes his rookie deal and then the new money kicks in after 2 more seasons and this turns into a long term bargain for us.

We can sure hope so. More importantly for me, I hope there are plenty of behavior clauses to where is he acts up, he loses, and not the Cowboys.

The player never pays that fine after the contract has been signed. This ain't Romo quarterbacking the team it's Dak.

So many fans are so panicky about this situation. It's standard procedure.
EE isn't going to miss the season. His HEAD might be that big, but not his ego or his common sense.
He sits out, he doesn't get paid and he repeats the same scenario again next year.
All this is is a chance for Zeke to rest his body and Jerry to get more camera time. Where's the yawn emoticon?

Not at all. It succeeded before him, with two different backs, and knee far outgaining him, and it will succeed after or without him.

It's about the offensive line and always has been.

Umm, Zeke has only played three years.

And I didn't cherry pick. I provided career totals.

When has a team been kind? Zeke may be kind if JJ and SJ come crawling back and ask nicely and add a couple more millions.
