Giant game all of sudden is no sure thing baby......then again we should beat the first 3 teams we face this year even if I was at QB baby!!!

I think that's what Jerry's counting on. Us beating the first 3 teams easily and putting pressure on Zeke to sign before the hard games start.

I believe it starts better than you are expecting. I hope I'm right and you are wrong. I guess we'll see in a few weeks.

Go Cowboys!

Dak is not going to have a huge year without Zeke. The run game will not be effective without Zeke.

In game adjustments will confuse a rookie OC.

Base defenses (no one in Cowboys backfield to command stack fronts) and heavy blitzes will seriously disrupt Dak and the passing game.
Dak's performance has been correlated with gid offensive line. Not with our inefficient RB.

Zeke did not face a ton of stacked boxes. He was about 20th in runs against loaded boxes Thr last 2 years.

Why do people ignore reality?

It’s a bit of a crapshoot but, if Pollard comes out strong and everyone else picks up the slack, Jerry may decide to leave Zeke on the back burner to simmer in his own stew. If our running game and the offense struggle, not so much.
well that is sort of true, but last year dallas started out with elliot, and got beat bad by CAROLINA in game 1.
wound up going 3-5 WITH ELLIOT ~! so it is not real smart to say that if we lose early games it is because we dont have zeke.
even if he were here they might lose same games.

I would say Jerry would sign Zeke, if things start poorly, as more of a jolt to the team - same with our mid-season trade last year

I think it would be a mistake, but I imagine that would be Jerry’s thinking

If this does go well into the season, how long is this contract offer valid for? If Zeke thinks he will come back against the Lions and sign that new contract.....I would take it off the table and expect him to play under his current one.

I still think he plays week one but it is nearing time for an ultimatum on the new offer, it will expire soon if I were in charge.

:laugh:the over confidence is getting ridiculous on here. all it takes is one twisted ankle or pulled hammy from #36 and you guys will be crying for him to return.
Not me and if we can’t beat the first three teams (pre season rankings ~32, 30 and 28) with or without Zeke than we have much bigger problems

When we went 3-5 last year, we also didn’t have a #1 WR. You do recall WR-by-committee and what happened after Amari came onboard?

I didn’t say if we lose games it will be strictly because we don’t have Zeke; I said, “If our running game and the offense struggle, not so much.” [as in, Jerry having not so much leverage]

IF that happens, it will certainly put pressure on Jerry to find an alternative to RB-by-committee, with the most obvious solution being getting Zeke signed.

I'll say this............... there is a very small silver lining here.

We get to see Dak without Elliott. If Dak truly is this ascending, developing QB that is on the cusp of being one of the greats in football and deserving of a massive, Top 3ish contract.............. then there should be no excuses for his performances starting the year.

But if he and the offense struggle, it feeds the notion that he needs Elliott. And in that case, the Cowboys might be foolish paying him what he wants.
I think the Zeke camp truly believes it's Zeke not Dak that is the engine that propels the team and he wants his $$$. I also believe he believes he is carrying Dak on his back and Dak is trying for that big payday off his (Zeke's) work and effort, if Zeke is smart he should just sit and watch he already has enough to last a life time or 2 and Jerry is at the end of the line. Hope Dak is all some wish him to be and we should see shortly. After 6 or so games with no Zeke should be interesting regardless of how it plays out.

I just looked at last year, and they started out 2-2, and I had already predicted 2-2 for this season before the whole elliot thing happened.
So I think 2-2 is a likely start for the cowboys.
The Dallas team looks better than last year , but then moore is the new OC in his first real games , so to expect better than 2-2 start is
hoping for too much.
I think many fans are forgetting last year, and assuming dallas is going to be the best team in nfc, right up there with the rams, chicago, eagles,
and I think GB will be in the playoffs this season.
Anything is possible, but lets wait and see where the team is after 6 games.
But really to do as good as last year 2-2 is the mark to be or beat. they were also 1-2 after 3 games, and if that happens this season,.
everyone will say it is due to no elliot, but yet with him they were 1-2 after 3 games last season!

Everyone just seems to assume NYG and wash will be easy 4 wins lol, but last year dallas beat nyg by 7 and by 1 point.
Then they lost to wash by 3 and then won against the bkup qb by only 8 points.
Wash was leading the div at 5-2 before the qb broke his leg.
So I think looking for 4 wins with these 2 teams is a bit much.

What makes you think Zeke cares about his teammates? I question his dedication to football in general. People who love their career don’t compromise it while outside of it
Good people wouldn't judge other people without knowing the facts. People that constantly judge other people are disturbing to me. They need to get a life. Don't get bent outta shape if this isn't you, I'm not judging. If it is you, get a life.

All true.

I do have a concern that the team last year was actually driven by its defense. They only gave up more than 24p 3 times last year and lost two of those games. The D looks fantastic so far this preseason. The Cowboys might turn into a 86 bears or 2012 ravens where they won with defense and a rather mediocre offense. If so, I would worry that Dak gets called a "winner" based on a bunch of 10-3 victories, gets a huge contract and then the team has to let several key defenders go (Collins, Jones) because of his deal and then the team unwinds.

Cowboys need to get another back for those few games. Pollard, Morris, Chunn ain't cutting it. If Pollard goes down we're screwed.
Who needs a great back they have Dak, sound familiar " we don't need a true #1 WR" . You forget anyone can run for 100 yards a game with this O line.

Good, won’t need him for the first 3 games anyways.
I don't think we need him for the entire season. I don't think the first three games has anything to do with it they just as dangerous as the rest of them. As long as we can put a solid game plan in place. Second season we didn't know if he would be here week-to-week now we know. Yes we can win without Elliott
