Of the last half-dozen, monstrous, top-5-at-their-positon deals Jerry has done since 2015, 3 held out (2 figuratively, 1 literally). Dez Bryant, Demarcus Lawrence, Ezekiel Elliot.

Jerry caved on all 3 at the eleventh hour. Nobody saw Demarcus getting 21m$ a year this time last season. It took so lot because they weren’t offering anything close to that at the beginning of this year. Dez ended up getting 14m a year at a time that was 3rd best in the biz.

And now Zeke sets records for total value, aav, total guarantees. There’s no way Jerry was offering a 90m$ contract in April. Horrible precedent for future deals. Dak and Cooper now have the blueprint they need to get every penny.

If you’re a valuable asset to the success of the Dallas Cowboys, hold out until Jerry gives up.

Going to be entertaining to see if Jerry's plunger bet pays off.
HC weakness is a neutralizing/offsetting factor so I'm hoping Kellen Moore creativity, if no one gets in his way, takes us to the promised land.
But 3 man teams generally don't beat 11 man teams like the Rams.

1. He hasnt had a losing season due to his good supporting cast

2. Zeke being better than Gordon is not the point. The point is Gordon is a good player that they believe they can win without because they have an elite QB

3. The point is Philip Rivers doesnt turn into garbage when Melvin Gordon misses games

4. Dak blowing up to you guys is a 180 yd 1td 1 rushing td game. LOL
You seem to also leave out Dak wasnt just missing Zeke. He was missing Tyron Smith and our brilliant coaching staff let him get absolutely hammered for 4 quarters. But hey. You say he sucks. So you must know more than anyone in the NFL. Dak would get 30 million from almost every team that doesnt have a starting QB. Please just stop

Thanks stasheroo. I hope we are not putting ourselves in bad shape going forward with the deal being back loaded.

I wouldn't worry. I think this boils down to a three to four year deal that they're pretty well locked into (for injury). That's not a bad bet on a sturdy, 24-year old kid with a history of durability. Kid is built to run the football. I'm sure there are provisions in it protecting the team from any further off field stuff or suspensions. They can't ensure he'll be able to play, but they can ensure he's not paid if he doesn't.

I guess you are going to be right about Dak... when we pay him 40 million plus per year avg.

I'm sticking by my guess there, 5-years, $165 million on his extension. But again, I'll be shocked if he's starting on Sunday with no new deal in place.

No one is saying Zeke is not important to the team. Just also pointing out that just because the paid Zeke doesn't mean they don't think highly of Dak.

To think that was silly.

I agree with you, but what it does say is that they know they don’t win w/o Zeke.

50MM guaranteed for a TB is absurd.

The Cowboys caved. Jerry is no master negotiator and now I cringe thinking what they will cave and give to Dak.

Wait and see what happens in 2 years when when Zeke's actual extension kicks in but Saquan Barkely signs a new deal that blows his out of the water, my bet is he'll try to hold out again. Barkley will be the highest paid RB by a mile

So just so I am clear. Dak wins only because of a good supporting cast. Every other QB in the NFL wins because they are great? Is that what you are trying to say? Dak was amazing the second half of the season last year. Lets be real clear. You have an agenda. It doesnt make sense but you are sticking to it because you blame Dak for Dez being off this team. Everyone here knows it. Carson Wentz was horrible year one. Year 2 he had, whats it called again. Oh yes. A GOOD SUPPORTING CAST and he was an MVP candidate. Every winning QB has a good supporting cast! But according to you only Dak wins because of it? Right.
They keep forgetting this team was 4-12 the year before Dak was drafted. Not only that but he doesn't have the same receivers or TEs(Witten came back) that he had in 16,17 or 18. OL doesnt have the same starting 5 from 16 until now either.

Anybody that's says Dak had all this talent at receiver and TE at the beginning of last season is just a fool.

I think Barkley might be trapped on a bad team. I expect him to get franchised once or twice and I would be surprised if he signs with a bad Giants team.

Everyone here complaining should really take a look at the deal. It doesnt even start for 2 years. So really we have him on his rookie deal for 2 more years and then the new deal kicks in. After the new CBA is done. Y'all need to relax. This is an AMAZING deal for the cowboys and zeke

When did Lawrence hold out? You mean voluntary workouts that he couldn't practice in because of an injury.
