I don’t understand how people can complain about what the FO is doing. First of all it’s the players pie. Negotiated by the union. 2nd the way the FO has been negotiating contracts gives them flexibility. 3rd I don’t think any RB is worth what Zeke got but looks like the FO played it smartly with the guarantees and it being a extension.

The salary cap was pushed by owners, for owners, in exchange for free agency. The players would get rid of the "pie" tomorrow if they could.

How could they not have an out by then? All the bonus money will have been paid, his salary will likely be high, and all that will be left cap wise is a few years of pro-rated bonus money. By 2024: I have no doubt cutting him will save large cap dollars so it will just depend on what kind of player he still is.

This is actually a very, very good deal for the Cowboys...……..I am actually shocked Zeke and his agent agreed to this. Its pretty much a career contract since it locks Zeke in for the next 8 years.

Both sides got what they wanted in the end. Zeke says he loves being a Cowboy and he wanted the highest paid RB contract. The Cowboys clearly wanted to keep him.

Now we hope his body holds up and he plays like he's been playing.

We all know the main reason why that team went 4-12 that year, lets not act like we didn't losing our starting QB. That team had almost the same talent as the team that went 12-4 the year before. And for the record, something similar would happen this year should Dak get knocked out for the season early (with the backups we currently have).

Of the last half-dozen, monstrous, top-5-at-their-positon deals Jerry has done since 2015, 3 held out (2 figuratively, 1 literally). Dez Bryant, Demarcus Lawrence, Ezekiel Elliot.

Jerry caved on all 3 at the eleventh hour. Nobody saw Demarcus getting 21m$ a year this time last season. It took so lot because they weren’t offering anything close to that at the beginning of this year. Dez ended up getting 14m a year at a time that was 3rd best in the biz.

And now Zeke sets records for total value, aav, total guarantees. There’s no way Jerry was offering a 90m$ contract in April. Horrible precedent for future deals. Dak and Cooper now have the blueprint they need to get every penny.

If you’re a valuable asset to the success of the Dallas Cowboys, hold out until Jerry gives up.

Doesn't matter what they could or want to do. There are guidelines that both sides have to work under. Each side tries to blur the lines as much as possible to benefit them. This is a win win for both sides..

Like everyone else, I would like to see the details. Given that there are massive guarantees, I think Jerry's fear about a second holdout are unfounded. If he holds out in 2 years, the Cowboys could start holding that money back. The leverage is with the team going forward.

Folks need to keep in mind, Gurley's deal is around 12 mill a year when you average over the 6 years (2 that remained plus extension).

So this isn't like Zeke really gave in on much aside from length.
