Stephen Jones was overheard saying that he knows the discussions start at Russell Wilson money.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
I'd "read" 3-4 days ago that Russell Wilson was the only Q.B. the Seahags had on their roster,, I'm relatively certain they'll sign some form of backup Q.B. to their roster ,before that first gameo_O

Eagirl fans should be saving their money to pay their brittle QB's medical bills.

Nope, just a Cowboys Realist. Remember when the Romo detractors called themselves that. Karma be thy Name

Likely a bit more than Goff - Goff made 28 million on his rookie deal. Dak made less than 3 mill. He's been grossly underpaid.

They could just repeat 2017, sign some bum corner and draft another one high.

Turned out well for 2017, didn't it? We had a cruddy pass defense.

This team, with the money laid out now, is in win now mode. The reality is if you look at the list of players King posted, some of them HAVE to be brought back if you want a fairly balanced team with quality depth.

I am on the fence with this right now. I wanted to see Dak play out this year with all the weapons he has and see what he does, but if he balls out this year the cost will just go higher. A dilemma for sure.

I agree.. It could get worse because the market gets more dumb every year.

Amari Cooper - You have to assume he's re-signed. What a waste of a #1 pick if he is not.
Byron Jones - Likely a goner. Elliott's (and Dak's and Cooper's) contract basically sealed this guy's fate.
Maliek Collins - Depends on his season. If he explodes, he's likely gone. Will be too pricey.
Jason Witten - He should be gone. Just let it go, Jerry.
Robert Quinn - Depends on how he plays. If he has a big season, he's gone.
Randall Cobb - Probably depends on guys like Wilson and Smith. If both perform, Cobb is probably gone.
Sean Lee - Time to say good bye
Tavon Austin - He might be back depending on price
Joe Looney - Probably a casualty, McGovern will essentially fill his role
Antwaun Woods (restricted) - Back
Anthony Brown (good riddance) - He might be back if Jones is gone, which he likely will be.
Jeff Heath (finally!) - Praise Jesus, hopefully Wilson has taken his job.
Tyrone Crawford (cap casualty?) - See ya (although if Hill isn't ready and Collins is gone, he could be back as a 3T - ugh)
L.P. Ladoucier - Back, won't cost much.
Xavier Su'a-Filo - I think he will be back unless he finds his way into the starting lineup and plays really well.
Christian Covington - Back. Cheap.
Joe Thomas - Back, as I think Lee will be gone.

I understand but when my QB isn't top 10 and i'm having to pay top 5 prices I think i'd look to the draft and stay out of the FA market.

Dak is about to get overpaid.
The problem with this is that unless you have a top 5 pick or you get extremely lucky, it will take anywhere between 2-5 years to develop a QB. We can't just let Dak walk, it isn't as simple as that. For as bad as some people think he is, it could get a hell of a lot worse.

Upsides and downsides:

Pay Dak the 30 some million he wants
Upside:
- Avoid paying him 40m if he blows up
- Avoid using up the franchise tag on him

Downside:
- He is mediocre, Dallas goes 9-7 and you are regretting that $150m or so deal. You either have to eat the whole amount or live with paying a mediocre QB a big percentage of the cap.

Let him play this year out

Upside:
- Avoid the downside above

Downside:
- If he blows up, you have to use the franchise tag on him instead of someone else
- If he blows up, you have to pay him $5-6m more per year

Overall, there is a pretty good case to be made for letting him play this year out. At worst, you tag him and pay him the $35m or so he is going to want now anyways and you have him locked up for this year and the next two years of franchise tags. I just don't see the rush to pay a QB with passing stats which put him in the mid teens as far as QB's go the highest or second highest QB salary.

Of course, I wouldn't have caved to Zeke either.

Ed werder just regurgitated what we already heard. SOMEONE in the sports world we need to give major props to is Jay Glazer. THAT GUY knows what he is talking about and doesn't spew the same old stuff all the other talking heads do. He is a legit "insider." Guy called the Zeke signing before game 1 like a month in advance. Same with Skip Bayless. Those 2 were spot on.
Skip doesn’t know what’s talking about. He just knows the cowboys and more importantly Jerry’s and his family better than media out there. He’s been covering them for over 3 decades and eep down he’s a die hard cowboys fans like most of us here on this board. Skip loves the cowboys.

I think it's easier then ever to find QB's.

You have to struggle a bit for that year when they are a rookie and then after that you're good to go.

Another downside, he blows up, you tag him and then he holds out. Then you either pay him or lose a season with Cooper Rush or who ever starting.

I hope the keep one of them, but I could very well see them go cheap there and redo 2017.

I would give Jones the same deal like Xavien Howard. Bascially a 3 year deal with cap hits of 10-13mil.

I wouldnt sleep on Collins being back. Even if Hill comes around at some point this season, they will probably want to play with two 3T's on most downs.

I also think Anthony Brown is likely to get extended.

With Quinn, tier 2 and 3 pass rushers are kind of a sweet spot in FA. Alot of times you can get guys like him or a Justin Houston for about half what you spend on an elite rusher. With an elite already on the books, a tier 2 or 3 guy may be all we need. I could see an 7-9 sack season fron Quinn getting a couple more years in Dallas at about 11-12 mil per. Probably depends on Taco and Gregory
