Why were WR's running open?

I keep seeing this as an excuse for Dak's great game.

For the first time in forever, I saw an O scheme that took advantage of NYG's scheme of stopping the run. Why do you think Zeke only had, what was it, 11 carries? Easy, because Moore saw what they were doing and took advantage of it. As opposed to Linny simply running into the teeth of their D.

Will this keep up? I'm pretty sure it will. Moore may or not be a lot of things, but one thing he definitely is, a football brain. Dude had his own playbook "IN COLLEGE". He understands the game like no other on this staff. He gets it. You cannot teach what this kid has.

Is this premature gushing on my part? I don't think so. I saw exactly what I expected from this kid. Taking advantage of mismatches, taking advantage of opponents schemes, and hugely taking advantage of NYG's scheme to stop our running game. No longer are we going to see Zeke repeatedly running into stack boxes, no longer are we going to see our receivers running at the DB and just turning around. And now, suddenly WR's are running open, getting open as many of us thought was possible, creating the separation that is key for any QB. NO exceptions.

Welcome to the NFL coaching world, Kellen. And we look forward to when you become the HC as Garret is moved up to GM. Or whatever title he's given up top.

Jerry got this one right. I know I've bagged on Jerry many many times over the years, but I've also been ready to give him his kudos when he gets it. This is his boy, and this one couldn't have been any more in the center of the target.

Looking forward to some great football!!!! Itsa comin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moore looks competent. Maybe a lot more than that. But it's hard to tell how much of the shine is simply in comparison to Linehan, who was a dog, and who didn't have the same level of talent to work with as Moore.

Jerry bumping Moore to HC would be sweet just for the lolz. There's a new Boy Genius in town!

"Easy, because Moore saw what they were doing and took advantage of it. As opposed to Linny simply running into the teeth of their D."

As I've said since 2017, teams were daring us to beat them with our WRs, and Linehan/Dak/WRs weren't up to the challenge, with the main problem being Linehan, who wouldn't even *attempt* to take up that challenge. Moore did make the attempt, with a stronger WR crew, and Dak executed better than he ever has.

The offense is loaded and we have a competent OC. At last!

Let the NFL tremble!

I've always been optimistic about Moore because I followed him in Boise, where he was pretty much an offensive genius. His playing talent didn't translate into the NFL, but his knowledge and creativity of disguising tendencies certainly have.

Truly pick your poison. HOF TE and 3 speedy WRs beating you deep or a top 3 RB gashing you out of the backfield. I do think it will take Zeke awhile to get going, 13 for 53 just isn't $90 million quality.

It usually takes Zeke 3 weeks to get going, so hopefully by Week 3 he'll look like Zeke again.

They were beating their guys. Great pass protection, is why they were running open. It's really not that difficult to figure out.

Pretty simple actually:

-Giants defense is horrid
-Unpredictable offense
-scheming and a kid that knows how to set up the defense and attack it
-Great Oline play with little to no pressure
-WR's that can get open and catch
-Dak's maturation and confidence in the players and scheme.

Pressure is #1 to be honest or lack there of.

ON that wheel route by Oluwale down the sideline he was open earlier in the route. And the ball would normally have been thrown earlier then when Dak threw it. But it was one of the few times he was pressured on that play, which caused him to hesitate on the route and avoid the pressure before he threw it. Which gave the defense time to come over and cover the play.

Ive been telling the trolls this for years. The Oline play is the #1 ingredient in QB play.

In hindsight It should have been a clue when Mike Martz was on hand during training camp. If anything, yesterday reminded me a lot of the greatest show on turf. Hopefully they can keep it up.
Martz has been rendered obsolete by the league now. His system maimed quarterbacks.

True on the pass protection, but these guys were wide open over the middle. It was the combination of horrid defense and scheming other then the Oline play.

Disagree. Better playcalling/scheming is why they were running open.
So,
You're telling me that the upgrade in Cobb from Beasely. Cooper an offseason with the team and Dak, as well as Gallup improving had nothing to do with it. Oh, and Freds back at Center. ? It's all scheme.?

Yep, all scheme. I swear, some of y'all are riding this scheme thing a little thick. Execution had a huge part in that win as well. And, yes, not a very good defense they were playing. But, can only play who is across from you.

One thing that seems be overlooked is that Dak had time when needed. Moore and the oline coaches had these guys ready for a lot of the blitzes.
It was impressive.

Either way, make no mistake; Dak was in a comfort zone and was hitting both the easy and difficult throws.
Just a really strong performance all-around by the offense.
Absolutely. No QB consistently produces w/ no protection.

Very little.

Cobb to Beasely is an upgrade in YAC, but a downgrade in separation.

What's even funnier is the lengths some of y'all are going to in order to deny that scheme had anything to do w/ it.

It's the most consistently open that I've seen our WRs for entire game in 15 years.
That does not mean there weren't several gorgeous throws as well!

Looked like everyone was running there routes good and the giants didn’t know what to expect from us. Moore is using motion and misdirection. There will be film for opposing teams to watch after a while and it will become harder.
