Most RBs tend to hit a fast decline after record high carries. Probably best for Zeke's future that his snaps have been inconsistent this year, he's already hobbling around in public.

It depends on the RB and his style of running. E. Smith was a workhorse but he was master at not taking a big hit. Earl Campbell was the opposite. Zeke is more Campbell like than Smith.

I don't necessarily disagree that Zeke was better in 2016, but it's not even remotely certain Zeke would have taken that to the house in 2016. Zeke simply thought the DB was going to stay on the outside - which it initially looked like he would - so he cut to the inside. It had nothing to do with Zeke's speed, it was about the cut he chose to make and how the defense was positioned to deal with it.

I thought that during the game, and was hoping they would start using pollard more since they were behind
and needed the big play.
ewok is good for short runs, but pollard could take it all the way if he gets a good opening like some of those elliot had.
Plus pollard is more motivated . but I think he only got in on a couple of plays lol.

The only chance for Frederick to block that defender is with Zeke cutting back inside.

Defenders in that situation are going to get far enough outside that they're confident they have the positioning to cut off the outside run. It's called outside contain.

The fact the the defender slowed up means he had gone far enough to the outside to be confident that he had position to cut off the outside run.

Cutting back against the defender's direction of momentum is how to play RB 101.

A middle school RB could look at that video and know that Michael Gehlken is talking out of his backside.
