What will you do if Jason Garrett gets extended as our HC?

I will put it this way.

If all of us had an opportunity of personally making the team better on the field, on the sidelines, in the luxury box, we would move heaven and earth in doing just that. Heck. I would gladly put on 100 pounds and play left tackle if I had the talent, height and age to pull it off.

But none of us can. None of us ever have. None of us will ever do. Sure, we can boast and puff out our chests until our lungs break ribs but fans do not play. We do not coach. We do not oversee teams.

Fans are rewarded when their favorite team enjoys success and victimized by their favorite team's failures. We are all (no exception) at the mercy of how our favorite teams perform--good bad or meh--UNLESS we disavow allegiance to our favorite team.

Yes. I am serious. Yes. The ugly truth is @charron is right about what devoted fans both face and endure. Long-time members know my position on this topic. I used to rant a lot about half-fans, etc. It is black-and-white for me. Either a fan is all in, warts and all. Or they are not. Ride or die. If failure and misery and mediocrity and any other fathomably depressing term fits, everybody, literally, everyone, every single individual, man, woman and child, has a choice they can make for themselves.

Or not. Same goes for every fanbase of every sport existing or yet to come.

Go Cowboys!

No, I don't agree. This take seems to be all too one sided. I mean, there is an investment that goes on on both sides of this discussion. This take that I read, would only seem to represent one side of that equation.

I think there has to be more then that.

I've been a fan of this team for almost my entire life. If Garett got extended, I'd probably stop following the team. There is no hope at that point.

What's anyone really going to do? Find another team? Be my guest and good luck.

The Cowboys were my co-favorite team until 1968 when they became my exclusive in a loss. Losing hasn't made me leave, it made me a fan.

The Cowboys didn't lose 3 in a row because they didn't play hard, they lost because they didn't play well enough.

Garrett's made some sideline management mistakes and some prep mistakes in the playoffs but I do not think he's holding this team back and the talent is better than the coaching. I think many here overvalue the talent level of this team and that's where the game is played.

Some blamed him for losing to LA and I'd like to know what the hell he could have done about his front 7 playing so poorly. His OL didn't execute well and was outplayed by a better line, that's his fault?

And they turned it around and won the East when they could have been the cellar dweller, all of the credit goes to someone else?

I won't "do" anything. I'll think it's a mistake, but I'll keep watching the Cowboys every week and hoping for things to go well like I have for almost 50 years,

Jay, you say that now but I will not hold you to that if he's extended with less than that 6th ring.

The appropriate question may be WHAT CAN WE DO!!!???
Well, if Booger reads this thread, he will know he keeps Garrett at the risk of losing some fans. However, I don't think some sharing that they don't give him any money is going to drive the point home.

Why do CLE, DET and WAS fans remain fans? Why did PHL endure so many heartbreaking seasons?

And my favorite one is BUF. They admired and gave Marv Levy credit and a send off when he retired for getting them there. If that was here, they'd be roasting him. I'd love to have seen this forum and the old DC.com when Meredith and White were QBing or when Landry was under fire and Schramm gave him a 10 year extension.

Booger could give a damn what anyone else thinks about his choice for HC and anyone that actually thinks Garrett would prevent his team from getting to and winning a SB is bent the wrong way.

What will YOU do IF Jason Garrett gets extended as our HC?

Scroll down past four billion threads on this website.

And there's your internet message board hero comment in the age of passive-aggressive effeminate male culture behaviour.

omg. How in the world did I forget this scene?

This is perfect. Jason Garrett not getting extended is some fans' plan.

The punchline (and it is a whopper!) is that only one person on this entire mudball of a planet will either pull the trigger or choose someone else.
