The 21st century Dallas Cowboys have been a joke

This is why I laugh when I see fans on here making belittling comments of the Browns or Bengals. I consider us in the same category as them and so do a majority of young NFL fans.

Yes and with age comes wisdom. Millennials have grown up with instant this and instant that and have never learned what it's like to not have instant anything. What would the millennials do back in the day when even if a home game was sold out it wasn't televised locally and you had to listen to it on the radio. There was no Sunday Ticket back then.

The fact that people are debating that we compare to the Browns shows how far this franchise has fallen.

No, it shows how ignorant some fans are.
There is no intelligent comparison to be made between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns.

We are no longer an Elite football franchise.

Jerry and his “ socks to jocks “ style is a joke but I’d argue the Cowboys have become more like many of the Mediocre franchises.

What you and many don't realize is back when the cap started from that first season until just last season the Cowboys were in cap hell. The seasons before the cap Jones paid the backups starting money and no Cowboys fans ever complained about the winning. They got spoiled and then the cap started and many of those backups were released and sign as starters on other teams. To just to try to stay a float Jones had to renegotiate multiple contracts every year and to get players to do it he had to add money at the end of the contracts that he and everyone else knew would turn into dead cap money. He did this and that team won Super Bowl XXX and after that it had gotten to where the Cowboys couldn't just let backup player walk away, but starters because there was just no cap room and already a huge mounting dead cap money. Then over the years the Cowboys thought if they could just get this free agent it might push them over the top but then to be able to sign him they had to renegotiate multiple contracts to continue that viscous cycle of renegotiating contracts which then added more dead money down the road. When the cap started there was the Cowboys and skins that were so far over the cap that there were some owners that tried to give both clubs a 2 or 3 year window when they could exceed the cap by 10% or 15% but the majority of the owners said no to that because they saw that as a way to keep the Cowboys down because they just won a Super Bowl. The 2 teams to start the push the hardest for a salary cap were the packers and browns. The packers because of the very small market of Green Bay and the Browns because Art Model got himself in financial problems and couldn't pay even their stars very big contracts.

The fact that people are debating that we compare to the Browns shows how far this franchise has fallen.

Those that are doing that comparison are doing so without either actually thinking about what they're saying or are that upset that they are making bogus comparisons. The browns for the last TWENTY seasons have had exactly ONE winning season, and ONE playoff appearance and have had the worst record in the league 4 times. The Cowboys have had 15 winning seasons, been to the playoffs 9 times and had the worst record once, 1989. So are you really going to try and say the Cowboys are as bad as the Browns have been for the past twenty years? I get that some fair weather fans are upset but comparing the Cowboys to the browns is like saying blue is really just a different shade of green.

Not remotely true. Times have been rough, but no one views the Cowboys that way whatsoever.

Anyone who considers us in the same category as the Browns has to be mentally challenged.

If you’re going to bash the Cowboys at least do so intelligently.

The Browns have had only two winning seasons in the last 20 years, zero playoff wins, and zero division titles.

We are not even close to being in the same category. We’ve won more games in the last ten years than they have in the last twenty.
Shh! They’re having a moment.

No one wants to say it, because we're mostly long time fans, but who are we kidding?

The 21st century Dallas Cowboys have been a joke, and will be until proven otherwise. If we were fans of other teams we'd be laughing at Jerry and Stephen on a daily basis - they're the gifts that keep on giving when it comes to mindless bloviating about their team who wins nothing.

People laughed at old Al Davis, despite his dusty SB trophies, as the Raiders floundered until his death. But is what's going on in Dallas really all that different?

I'm sad to say I don't have much confidence in this franchise as long as Jerry and his kids are running the show. I hope they prove me wrong, but I no longer expect that will happen.

Yay...let's beat the Eagles and see what transpires, I guess.

No one wants to say it? I say it constantly as do many others. Jerry has turned this once proud franchise into a clown show. But in his eyes it's all good because it still draws massive ratings, revenue and attention.

This franchise has become mediocre losers. The only thing anyone points to is the past. Last conference championship game was in 1995.

No fair weather fan would ever stay a Cowboy fan this long. And yes the Cowboys aren't as bad as the Browns. That isn't saying much. Only Detroit and Washington have failed to reach the NFCCG as long as the Cowboys. Don't care about overall records. I care about playoff success and the Cowboys are awful there this century. On the few occasions they have a good year they wet the bed in the playoffs. We were 13-3 twice this century and each time lost the first game. That's disgusting. And JG has never had back to back playoff years.

Is that you Mickey?

You can quibble about my comparison all you want, the fact is the majority of NFL fans view us in the same light as the Browns and Bengals of the world. We are the jokes of the league, the only real distinction is the Cowboys receive extreme media attention.
Just like Jerry plans it he still makes money

Yep

He’s conflicted with fair weather and wagon fans to disgruntled and apathetic fans.

He’s somehow reasoned in his mind that fans who complain about losing aren’t faithful fans. Lol

I would agree with this. We shouldn’t be compared with the Browns this era. It hasn’t been that bad.

We’ve been much more average than bad. We’ve actually had a couple of decent teams that simply didn’t meet their potential.

But it’s not been of the championship caliber we grew more accustomed to first 4 decades. And why many fans compare this era to other more average to dormant franchises.

There are disgruntled and apathetic fans all across the league. Browns and Lion fans are great examples. There’s many others who continue to follow, support and watch their franchise even though they suk most years. And complain all the way to the bank meaning they still show up.

Saints fans showed up for 43 years with bags over their heads for much of it until they finally won one. Steeler fans waited 40 years. Patriot fans waited 4 decades while still showing up.

Unhappy complaining fans still show up. They aren’t fair weather fans. You have the definition misconstrued.

Fair weather fans abort their teams when they’re losing and root for other teams. They don’t hang around complaining wearing bags over their heads:)

I don’t completely disagree, but unlike the Browns and Bengals, the Cowboys have managed to acquire some talent at various times. Some might argue the talent is merely fan-hyped perception, but people who rate talent seem to agree the Cowboys have some.

For whatever reason, it hasn’t translated to post season success.

The Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns are literally nothing alike.

As I said above, it’s not even worth the time to discuss such a foolish comparison.

There are plenty of rational, intelligent discussions and conversations that can be had about the lack of success of the Dallas Cowboys.
Comparing us to the Cleveland Browns is not one of them.

That is a complete waste of time.
You completely dodged the question because there is no difference.

How are we different the last 23+ years? Neither has won anything.

There are posters on this board who vanish when things are going well, and post nonstop when things are going badly.

Yes, there are fans who enjoy complaining about the team, bashing Jerry, bashing Garrett, etc.
There's a fan on here that calls everybody haters and whines non stop. Now that we're on a losing streak he vanished. His name is @Rockport. What's your point again?
