A little regret on Taco cut?

I agree on Garrett, but don't agree on Crawford and Heath.

Crawford was expensive with known health problems. That's why he should have been gone. I don't think he's as bad as you do, and we lacked alternatives. If he had been fully healthy, I would have kept him after seeing what we had in camp.

On Heath, his cost is minimal, and for it we get a full time starter *and* a half time special teams ace. He has played more snaps than anyone on the team. Heath is a value proposition.

Both guys are paid like starters and neither one is starting material. Crawford is grossly, sickly overpaid for a non-starter. And do we actually need to talk about how much better Quinn has been at RDE? Where Crawford was the 'starter'?

Don't have to convince me about Crawford at RDE. But we need the help at 3T, the position he was actually paid to be. I recall you complaining about his sacks on stunts, but I count those.

As for Jeff "paid like a starter" Heath, his cap hit put him 38th in the league for safeties. He's only that high because he's in the final year of his contract. His average cap hit over his contract, which he is playing out this year, is less than 2mill.

Soft Taco never did anything for us. He was soft and didn’t have the intensity needed to be even a good pass rusher. Drafting him was a terrible mistake! Getting rid of him was a smart move! I would like to see his sacks in Miami. Probably nobody blocked him. He’s terrible. Good riddance.

More sacks if your team often rushes 8 or 9 players.

Like I said, I've been over Taco's game footage. He looks the same.

More sacks per snap, but more sacks per player? It could be, but I doubt it. Diminishing marginal utility.

Have they missed him? Not even a little bit. In fact, their numbers on the defensive line have been better without him.

And he's not starting material, so his pay shouldn't even be 38th out of what amounts to 64 starting safeties. It's good to hear that the team is looking to possibly trade for a safety. It's about time.

They dropped him into coverage and he came up with an open field tackle. Looks like a good play to me.

Just what I thought. He didn’t beat anyone on that sack. His ridiculous celebration is embarrassing. He’ll be out of the league in 2 years max.

It was a moronic decision to cut him; worse than it was to draft him in the first place. Complete and utter incompetence on how they handled that entire situation.
It was moronic to cut him? 8 Cowboys fans agree with this? He didn’t even make our active roster. He was terrible. Hyder is 3 times the player Taco is and Armstrong is better. Armstrong May never be starter material either.

And why "didn't he make the active roster"?

And Armstrong has NEVER shown to be a "better player". But he's here and still wears a star, so you prop him up to be something he's not so you can try to minimize the guy that's not.

And why "didn't he make the active roster"? Taco didn’t have the power, the technique, the effort, or the speed to be a decent DE in the NFL or to make our active roster.

I think Armstrong is pretty mediocre. I’m willing to give him the rest of this year to show he can contribute. I am not very high on Armstrong but he is better than Taco.
This thread is actually a waste of time. I won’t waste anymore of your time or mine posting on a player who will be out of the league in less than 2 years.

Like paying $10 million for Tyrone Crawford?

That kind of "piss poor shape"?
This team over spends ALL the time. I wish we would trust our scouting department more and stop over paying so many guys. I agree Crawford is way over paid. I like Zek a lot but he is over paid. Lawrence is looking like he is over paid. We should be following NE’s blue print on how they pay guys.

I usually agree with you on most topics, but Taco is Soft and will never even be a mediocre starting DE. Okay, I will not mention him again.

By what measure? Homerism?

Actually, what it is is an inconvenient truth. One that clearly some Cowboys fans can't handle. So in order that they might somehow feel better about what happened, they knock the departed player and prop up whatever's left. Facts be damned.

No sale.

He's doing better than several of the guys this team currently employs. Especially one that they decided to waste $10 million on this year. One who's career is probably finished.
