How does Josh McDaniels gets no love as a possible candidate in Dallas?

McDonald's is going nowhere. As long as Billyboy is HC over there in NE. Why give up a proven winning formula?

Not sure what Lincoln Riley's personality is to form an opinion but not so with Josh McDaniels. His is not the type of personality I foresee Jerry Jones jotting down at the top of his cocktail napkins whenever he may decide to write down a list of possible head coaching hires.

I was doing the Urban Meyer dance last week. This week I am going back to my favorite coordinator candidate...Josh McDaniels. Sure he failed in Denver. He had no QB. Big Bill failed in Cleveland. McDaniels is an elite coordinator. He has Pats pedigree. He wins and moves the ball without Brady. He wins with new skill guys every year. I know the HC looms large in New England but in my opinion McDaniels is one of his best coordinators.Yet when some talk next coach they sing the praises of Lincoln Riley. That guy has won nothing. Why no love for McDaniels?
He failed because he traded up for Tebow, who was not all that great of a prospect. I'd have no problem bringing him in. You really think JG will be fired?

As an OC in that system he is pretty good but as a HC he sucked. Once he leaves there he gets exposed for not being able to put a team together. Riley isn't the answer but McDaniels isn't either.

You've heard that "taught him everything he knows; just not everything I know"? That's the mad scientist of New England. If he'd been alive back then, I think the odds are good he gets burned as a witch.

Because he's not trustworthy, he's arrogant to a fault, he was exposed in Denver, he is a guy who thinks he's smarter than every one else (like when he wasted a first round pick on Tim Tebow like a moron), and frankly, the Belichick coaching tree doesn't really seem to produce great HCs.

I agree with you all except the Tebow pick. I mean, I agree it was moronic, but teams do this all the time. Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Manzeil, Haskins, did I miss anyone? All bums. A qb shows a little flash in college and some team ends up wasting a first rounder on him.

I do think this will be JGs last season. The fan base is 90 pct against the guy. Jerry will have to extend him. If he did I think the backlash will be strong. It is telling no talk of an extension has leaked out. Plus I see this team as struggling this year. The second half schedule is very difficult. Playoffs are 50/50 right now. If they miss it or get knocked out early Jerry will have no choice.

He is the heir apparent in NE and I think that's why he backed out on Indy.

Which is surprising that he would want that gig.

No Brady and no BillB(obviously) the fans are spoiled from deep runs usually ending in championships.

A run of even losing in the Conference Champ game would be a bad season lol.

After what McDaniel did to Indy, after he reneged his verbal commitment to them to be hired on, at the very last minute while the well was already on dry with the other available HC candidates
that was viewed by many as an utter cold blooded unethical maneuver by Daniel, and it further added to his already questionable character and arrogance that he seem to
display in his HC gig with Denver.

While he is truly and easily one of very best offensive minds and an very brilliant offensive designer and he works and develops QBs very well. I wouldn't bother with him as to hire him
as an HC. I don't trust his scruples, ethics and character.

Flash? Tebow was completely incapable of throwing at an NFL level. You quite simply do not take a guy in the first who's mechanics need to be completely remade. All he did in college was run up the middle. As a prospect, he was a 3rd rounder at best.

Is Brady coming with him? When he went to Denver, NE kept rolling. He's made no discernable difference.

It's not that he had no QB, but rather he had the QB he chose in the first round: Tim Tebow. :muttley:

The way he stripped down the broncos roster and rubbed people the wrong way and also backing out of a hc gig with indy is enough to make me say no

He has a strong relationship with ownership and I think that's why he backed out of Indy. There's very little loyalty from ownership to management and coaching, when a coach finds a home, hard to leave for that greener grass and most of them fail or we wouldn't have 20-25% turnover at the HC position every year. And this one may top 25%.

One thing some fail to consider is that playbook is not his playbook, that playbook has been there since Belichick got there, other OC's have executed the same plays before McDaniels and when he was gone.

The entire team is Design by Belichick, including ST. His coaches can't take anything with them when they leave because it's all him. He's that throwback before all of this specialization like we have with McVay, Shanahan and Reid. They have to have strong counter balances at DC.

There have been some great coaches in the NFL but I am starting to drop that "in the cap era" from my best HC thinking.
