Love Dak. I think he's great. But 40 million is a big, big stretch. Dak your getting a ton of endorsements. Give Dallas a break and sign for 30 million. 30 million is still a lot of money. Asking for 40 million is just plain greedy.

Gotta get something done or Amari is gone. We need to franchise one of these fools cuz they're obviously both hard headed as hell

Will likely be more money than Aaron Rodgers. Just laughable. And I like Dak.

He will be overpaid but Dak's probably thinking "I did more for this team and played for much less than some of the scrubs that were/are on this team past 4years. Jerry, it's time to show me the money"

The Commanders say “hold my beer”
Little Danny is said he pushed for Haskins so they might already have their Qb on a rookie deal. Now the Bengals might depending if they think Dak is better than the qbs coming out of college this year..

Still, the Dallas Cowboys have yet to iron out a long-term contract extension with their franchise quarterback and that’s a little troubling considering he’s technically a free agent after this season. Dak has played like an MVP at times this season, but along with the rest of the team, he’s had his share of struggles.

We heard that Prescott turned down an offer for $30M per year and that he reportedly asked for $40M. We haven’t heard much about Dak’s contract demands since, but an interesting nugget did pop up on Wednesday.

NFL Network’s Jane Slater recently started a podcast (The ‘Boys And Girl Podcast) and on the latest episode gave us a little bit more information on exactly where negotiations might be at the moment.

“Since then I’ve been told that he’s come down. The number is closer to 33, 35 ish. But for whatever reason they’re still not able to get this deal done.”

For a 4 year contract, Lower than Wilson, higher than Wentz. 33,34. Probably 105-110 guaranteed.

I'm guessing they're trying to do longer than 4, making the comparables more difficult.

The Cowboys really do have a point that Dak benefits enormously *financially* by being a Cowboy. Probably no team brings the marketing opportunities that the Cowboys do. For the vast majority, it's probably a huge gulf.

IMO I don't think enough people talk about the LENGTH of the contract.

Let's say for arguments sake, Dallas signed Dak to a 7 year, $280 million contract ($40 M Year). By the time the contract hits the end, Dak could be the 15th highest paid QB in the NFL, especially with another CBA coming up for negotiation soon.

Hey, I understand Dallas' position. More years = easier to manipulate for Cap Room, if needed.

I also understand Dak's position. In 6 years, the AAV for a Top QB could very well be $50 million+.

Impossible? Well 6 years ago, in April of 2013, Aaron Rodgers became the highest paid player in the NFL with a 5 year, $110 million ($22 AAY). So in 6 years, the highest paid went from $22 M to $35 M. So it is not inconceivable to see the highest paid player in the NFL going from $35+ to reaching or exceeding $50 AAV by 2025.

I don't blame either side nor am I mad at either side.

Both are doing what they think is best for them. And if for whatever reason it does not work out well for the Cowboys and/or Dak, then they also have no one else to blame then themselves. Because in the end BOTH SIDES will need to have agreed on a new contract or for both parties to seek opportunities elsewhere.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find it quite interesting.
:starspin:

As I've said in other threads, I think the middle ground would be a 7 year deal with clauses guaranteeing his APY would stay within top 5 or he becomes FA.

The 40m was debunked by multiple sources and the counter offer was 34m back in April. So he hasnt came down at all. This is our FO leaking the 40m to get the public on their side, then leaking that he has came down to 33-35m so it makes them look like they "won".

Dak wins either way. Jerry could care less. Its the fans that lose b/c this team is going nowhere allocating 33M per to Dak Prescott.

33 Million for Dak what a waste of good Cap $....might as well give it to the Salvation Army and feed some folks in need....
