Jerry wants to think this team is good enough to contend for a SB. And a win Sunday would provide support in public opinion for a narrative to promote his product.

As diplomatically as he can in Jerry-speak, but yes I think so too.

Garrett makes the NFC Championship Game or Jerry makes a change. Seems clear.

And what is also clear is that Jerry certainly expected a better record than this. And now this is one that he expects Garrett and the team to 'make up' for in the win column.
You said “clear” twice pertaining to Jerry’s statement. Would you like to take those “clear” comments back? Ha ha

To me Jerry is indirectly telling Jason Garrett this game is the difference between your getting another contract or coming to the end of your Cowboys coaching career.

I wish, but no - if they drop this game but still finish 10-6 and make it to the NFCCG, he’ll be back.

But the opposite is true. If the Cowboys pull off this upset, it’ll go a long way toward securing Garrett’s job. And the reality is that this is a winnable game. It’s probably going to come down to coaching.

JJ should say, they are how I should run a franchise.
B.B is a real coach who is given power and is trusted by his owner to do so. Not a puppet like I got with no SB appearance in 24 seasons. Put the right peopl6in the right place and see the results.

Jerry Jones is looking at Sunday’s matchup against New England as a measuring stick game for his 6-4 Cowboys. “This isn’t just my town against your town. It’s obviously a big one for us in how we make our way to the playoffs, so everything you play football for is riding there against New England and the challenge is with us,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “I think it’s an opportunity to take a step up in the opinion of it, not only from within but without.”
No pressure Jason.

Translation for everybody...……….

A. This is a measuring stick game to see if we are legit or not.
B. We need this game to stay ahead of the Eagles, if we lose and the Eagles win, then the division is tied and our schedule is harder than theirs.
C. If we do win, the opinion of this team will not only rise within the organization, they will prove to themselves they are legit, but outside as well.

Jerry scares the hell out of me when he says "big one" and "measuring stick". I don't know what he is actually thinking about.

I get the feeling that if he's forced to watch us get blown out with Kraft in the next suite he's gonna be mad as hell

This is the only team that I know of, that is constantly measured against their competition each week. Other teams mentioned in this forum, have built in excuses.

Winning record
Margin of victory
Past history
Any given Sunday
Media darlings
Who cares, better than Dallas, and so on.

Hopefully you're wrong, and I think you are. We're all just guessing, though, nobody but Jerry knows for sure what he'll do.

Of course if they beat the Pats, and win the SB or lose the playoff game due to another "Dez caught it" type thing, then I'd be okay with having him back, why "mess with success" if that's true.

Sooner or later every team falls back into mediocrity, or worse. Pats are no different. At this point the decline is starting, not hugely or suddenly, but it's beginning, starting with Brady.
But the Pats are still the team to beat, just based on they're being the SB champs, Brady still very good, Belichick still being there and until they drop off significantly.

We'll know Sunday...
