How has coaching incompetence changed your enjoyment of Cowboys games?

for me, it is a lot.
on some level, it has become hard to watch.
like the special teams last game not adjusting to the weather after any idiot watching the game knows better.
like garrett kicking the field goal instead of going for the touchdown with little time left and losing by 7.
i can almost count on some strategic mistake that tries hard to turn victory into defeat.
and there would likely be some moment in the game where i would be in disbelief as i watch the action unfold - thinking 'they could not be seriously doing that'
Win lose or draw I enjoy watching the Cowboys. I take it only for what it is, just a sport for entertainment. I also enjoy outting the Trolls. Someone needs to keep them in they’re place.

Doesn't really affect me because there is really very little of what I consider really good coaching. Did you watch the wunderkind McVay last night? How about Nagy this year? Both CotY the last 3 years.

But about that game Sunday. Does anyone really think Garrett is going to out coach Belichick in Gillette in that weather? He faced better than that in those types of conditions before and ended up in the SB. As far as that punt return, don't know how many coaches would have responded to that from the mad scientist. A coach has to be concerned with what Belichick's up to and what he's trying to do.

The coach that blew that game was the one that didn't call QB run plays in those conditions. The QB can't pass the ball accurately, why keep calling that? They were keying on Elliott so run Prescott or Pollard out of 2 back sets. What does Belichick struggle with the most? A mobile QB.

Honestly, while coaching incompetence is frustrating I take it with a grain of salt because I don’t know what the actual calls made were and for instance if an audible was used or not used. The one thing that has 100% affected my enjoyment of the game is the haphazard application of new/old/unclear rules and how those rules happen to be subjectively applied from week to week. The incompetence and inconsistency of officiating is much more difficult to overcome in my opinion than a poor play call.

I stopped caring after the 2016 playoff loss. I knew then that the divisional round was Garrett's ceiling and we're just wasting time with him as the coach.
This to a T!! It's sad it's taken this long for the GM to realize what many on here have known for years. Stubborn Bas-d!!

I tape the games and watch them after I know the final score. I don't watch live Cowboy games for the past few years. I don't feel like throwing stuff at a TV and having to buy a new one. I just watch the plays and fast forward through the ads and huddles and penalties. Actual game footage is around 45 minutes.
Mostly because of Garrett. And when Garrett doesn't seem to screw things up, the players or the refs do something idiotic.

I expect mental mistakes, it's been happening with the teams when Romo was here. Everything was a circus regardless of his performance. I still had hope we could get to the playoffs and that the offense could carry. With Dak I feel like everything (scheme+OLine) has to be damn near perfect because I know the coaches aren't going to help in critical situations, although the overall team is better. They still commit the little mistakes and as long as the offensive scheme is working we may be fine. So yes I expect us to lose every game against a decent team, I expect the coaches to continue to stick with underperforming players like LVE, Smith, Awuzie, and Maher. I can't just enjoy a win because I'm already looking at what excuses will present itself the following week. And considering all of this I can just see us enter a point of no return if Dak gets paid and the next coach has to correct these mistakes, but is forced to use certain players because of questionable decisions from management prior. We think it's bad now,

I can easily see it getting a lot worse going forward, regardless of the HC, if we're not careful. One of the best things we have going into next season if a new HC is happening is that Dak, Cooper, the secondary, and the interior DL are not locked up under fat contracts. Utilize that franchise tag if you have to and really make strong decisions about players currently on the team if they really are contributing at a level they need to. Stop being emotionally attached in this country club and break it down if you have to set the ship right. If we get a new HC he'll have more options on how to approach correcting this team than being stuck with a locked down roster in cap hell.

I still watch every game, but the Patriots game for the most part was exactly how I pictured it. The problems get exposed and playing worse teams only makes certain people forget about these issues, delaying what needs to be done. My moment of lost hope for Garrett was mid season 2014 with some of those weak losses, with what transpired in critical situations. He only iced the cake with everything that was done going into the playoffs and what happened. Then 2015 happened and even with all those scrub QBs I felt coaching prevented us from being 8-8. 4 years later and we're still talking about this...

I haven't believed our coaching staff could win a SB for years. Gives me a feeling of futility about the team.

Lol, I've been watching coaching incompetence since Jimmy Johnson left. I can't even remember what it was like to watch the Cowboys with a competent coach. I guess maybe the Parcells years were ok but that also seems like a long time ago

To answer your question though its make it much easier to not really get upset when they lose. Heck it's almost like I expect it now.

It’s been the same since around 1996...I expect a loss and surprised by each and every win. Opposite of growing up watching the Landry-led Cowboys, innovative, always meticulously prepared and talented players that fit the system and executed their roles.

The first time it changed for me was when Landry was let go. The 90s were fun but not the same. The team in Jerryworld, with the old man Jerry front and center, doesn't even feel like the same team at all. Uniforms look the same, name is the same, but it's an entirely different entity.

I watch more for old time's sake than anything else. I have no confidence in the organization producing a champion again.

I've stopped caring after 43 years but of course i still care a little bit. I no longer watch ever play like i did most of my life. I used to watch every second even when i went to the 1-15 game back in Aikmans first year. But now i can barely watch an entire game. I no longer believe in the team unfortunately :-(

Your rabidly defensive behavior of any criticism of the Cowboys suggests it is far more important to you than that.
