There are rumors and also a few facts that loom larger as the season goes on. The biggest fact right now is that Amari's agent wouldn't negotiate a contract preseason. It is absolutely in the agents and players best interest to hit the open market. They know Dallas can only tag one player and its looking like Dak is going to be that player. Sure, we might resign him but the player has ALL the leverage at this point and it will be the biggest contract ever given to a WR.

You think Dallas benefitted at all this season from caving into Zeke's absurd contract demand? We have now had a full season with Dak, Elliot, and Amari, and we are 6-6. Why bring them all back at 10x the price tag?

We've also seen Dak without Cooper and terrible is an understatement. If we only get 1 it better be cooper.

Gotta sign Dak so we can franchise Amari - I've been saying it all year. Amari is a weird character, I knew this would happen.
Dak isn't interested. His agency is CAA, which handles the biggest names in Hollywood. They simple don't negotiate for anything but top dollar. They don't budge an inch.

All three want to wait until the new CBA comes out, which is expected to jump the salary cap significantly. Mahomes is expected to land around $50-60 million a year, and CAA wants Dak to wait for that market.

I think it's a dumb risk for Dak. But it does Dallas a favor if he's willing to play under the franchise tag.

i think Jones will ultimately sign here, but not Cooper. I think he's going to negotiate his way out of here.

Whats the point of having the really expensive WR without someone who can get him the ball? While there is no question Dak plays better with better targets, he doesn't need the most expensive wr in the league. Gallup and Cob are balling out too this year both are right with Amari in YPC. Subtract out the one GB game where Amari had a career outing, and its close to a dead heat.

If you sign coop you can tag Dak. Cobb is gone.

why would cobb be gone? He's cheap and has been incredibly productive as the #3 wr. The problem in Dallas isn't a lack of will to sign Coop. As Stephen Jones has said many times this year, it takes both parties to make a deal and Cooper's reps have shown no interest in getting a deal done.

His contract is up. Why would he stay here? He thought he was coming to a good team with a QB that looked good on paper but now he knows.

Misread your question. It is not clear either player has an issue with Garret. It could be the other way around. Maybe neither wants a new coach.

To me its not about liking Garret, I'm sure he is a swell guy, it is a question more if they player wants to win, compete for a championship. Garret probably is not your guy if you have such lofty goals.

Everyone wants to win but these things are more about money than anything else typically. Otherwise you'd have players fighting to be a patriot. Sounds like the agents aren't budging from the 20 million, they aren't negotiating. Their job is to sell to the highest bidder. They leveraging what they can since we have 2 high prices free agents and 1 tag.

Looks like coopers greatness will benefit DAk. Dak knows we need to sign him to tag Cooper. He'll get 5 million more than he's worth.
Im not 100% sold on Dak. He's a lot better this year. If this was his 2nd or 3rd year, I'd say sign him. He still struggles in the red zone. I also see him getting fooled at the line of scrimmage far too often.

What is wrong with people?

Dak's 'greed'? Last I checked, he doesn't own a piece of the team. Dak - and every other player in the league - should maximize their earnings during their short time in the league.

What is it that you do? Maybe the company you work for could by a new piece of equipment that would make someone else's life easier if you would just take a pay cut and quit being so greedy.
Daks absolutly sucked before Cooper came. He suck whenever Coopers taken away. He needs both Zeke and Cooper. Now if we end up with a pro bowl TE to go with Zeke, then maybe Dak has a chance to look good without Coop.

FACT IS..we will lose SOMEONE. I think for sure we lose Byron Jones. I also would not be shocked if we made a big trade to shed salary. We wont be letting Coop out of the building.

It could be that JG rescused both and they are loyal to him. It was JG who chose Dak over Romo even when Tony came back from the injury. Amari is harder to read but he may also think well of JG and his offense b/c his career has taken off in this offense.

Jerry was a colossal moron for not extending Coop at the time of the trade. You don't just throw a first rounder away like that. Such a poorly run franchise.

So Orton was under contract and not a free agent....And like I said name a player that Jerry wanted to keep that didn't get resigned..
Did you like forget that people can go back and look at what you said? Funny stuff, dude.

Dak is doing Amari Cooper a huge disservice, not being good enough to get him the ball. Amari, being in a contract year, might get tired of Dak just like Beasley did, and leave to go play with what he said is a real QB.

Hmm, do WR come to Dallas to die?

At some point, Coop will get the extension he’s earned. It would be bad business to let a player walk given the circumstances it took to acquire him and the performance he’s put out afterwards.

Hopefully this news will allow the contract talks to resume to keep him in the fold for the foreseeable future.
