Cowboys can make big moves if they want

I watched bunch of no-name Eagle WRs work the Cowboys D today. They don't need to bring in big time WR. What they need is QB who can be accurate. I would be in favor of signing mid-tier WR for short contract or taking WR in 1st three rounds in this draft.

The Eagles aren’t very good. Don’t get fooled into thinking because they beat us, they are showing a viable plan to win with only three WRs active.

I guess so. After seeing this performance, yes. Cooper is a WR 1, but only 1-3 games a season. Gallup and Cobb are okay. WR is deep this draft, might as well pick one up in the 2nd or something. Spend defense on the rest. Maybe get a QB in the first.

why would you have to use a prime pick on a wr. Good Ones get taken all over the draft board and some are never drafted.

So throw late picks at WRs and hope one turns into Antonio Brown?

With Cooper & Dak unsigned this team can pivot in tune with new HC. Cowboys have a ton of compensatory picks coming their way in 2021 (which now can be traded). You franchise Dak and give new HC 16 games to evaluate him. You let Cooper walk and live with Galloway. If things don't work out this team will have resources to move up in 2021 draft for QB. The worst thing Jones could do is throw more massive money at players who do everything but get into playoffs and win.

That’s not a slight on the kid but he’s not an upper echelon kid.

You want to let Cooper walk? Fine. But you need to bring in a new big time WR then. Pouring all the money into the defense is just repeating the 2018 offseason when you thoare got you could win with middling WRs.

WR's can be found in the draft. You don't need to bring in a big time WR. "Big time" players are drama queens. What's the difference if you get a "big time" WR who runs a 4.0 (who catches 99.9% of his passes) and someone in the draft who runs a 4.0 (who catches 99.9% of the passes)? I'm just throwing out time numbers. I have no idea what I'm talking about with that but you get the basis of my question.

Also as you said, we don't have to pour all the money on defense either. I have to admit, our drafting has improved and slowly but surely, I'm trusting that the right people will be drafted moving forward. I think they learned their lesson with Taco.... At least I'm hoping so.... LOL

Franchise Cooper so you get him for one year and see what he does. If more of the same, then let him go.
Sign Dak for market value. Jerry can match whatever any other team will offer.

Agreed. But keeping him and his attitude, and his away game results, would be even more brutal. We need WRs who catch the ball, and at least show up in road games occasionally.

The Pats have good receivers. They have had very good TEs. They have a very good defense. They are well-coached and they have a HOF QB and a HOF head coach.

Exactly. Michael Irvin would never have been on the sidelines for a game deciding play, regardless of the "rotation" of the coaches. Michael Irvin wouldn't have needed a "breather" when the game and season was on the line.

After being colossally stupid enough to give up a first rounder without extending him at the time of the trade, I can't imagine Jerry admitting that it was a dumb move so IMHO Cooper will be resigned. That is unless Amari himself refuses and decides to sign elsewhere. Which is a good possibility because he's still really git that sham of a GM over a barrel.

Who’s the QB next year?

Tagging Dak is the only smart decision. There is no long term financial commitment. You get to see him for one year under a new coach and system and if is the same old Dak, you walk with no pain at all.

It also doesn’t prevent you from taking a QB this year in draft of you want.

Lol, well maybe not punch him in the head but yes, force himself into the game. If not that, at least look interested in what's happening. I don't know if you've ever watched the Super Bowl season documentary things they do. I can't remember what they're called right now. But my favorite Irvin story is the 92 NFCCG at San Fran. It was the play Harper took it 70+ yards. The game and season was on the line and the play that was called was for Harper to get the ball. Irvin told Harper to switch with him coming out of the huddle cuz he wanted to be the one to have the game in his hands. Aikman saw the switch, the niners adjusted and Ailman threw it to Harper and the rest is history. Point is, Irvin switched the play cuz he wanted the pressure on him. If Irvin can switch a play with the game and season on the line with a coach like Jimmy Johnson. Then Cooper can stay in the game with a coach like Garrett.

Come on its not like were talking about 1 game.Cooper has been AWOL for half the season. Hes acting like he did before he left Oakland. Resigning him to top dollar would be a huge mistake. The kid has no passion for the game.
