While the Vikings and 11 other teams have reached the playoffs, the world doesn't stop spinning for teams that missed the postseason and with "Black Monday" upon us, the rumors of coaches being fired are happening at a rapid pace.

I really hope not. If he is brought here it will be to fix the defense and I am not sure he can do that. He has a real knack for missing on secondary players in the draft. I can already see dallas drafting two corners because that is what zimmer wants and then both of them are average at best.

yes zimmer is a demanding coach and all that but the results are not there and this seems like you are just hiring an angry version of Garrett. I really hope this is not the case.

Jerry and McClay are the most prominent draft voices, but even still, how is that much different than what we've done? In fact, DB is probably this team's biggest need at the moment.

The guy was also responsible for Anthony Barr and Daniel Hunter, two world class players, so it's not all bad.

He has a less talented team than the Cowboys and made the playoffs in a tougher division. That's really all that needs to be said.

I can see Zimmer being the guy because I think he'd be fine with keeping Kellen as OC and I think that's something Jerry will want.

Really, the only glaring issue with Zimmer is that he's not the shiny new, young toy everyone wants. Oh, and no rings.... :/

Word is the Vikings really like their OC Stefanski, and rumors are if the Vikings lose to the Saints Zimmer could very well be out and Stefanski the next HC.

No secret that Zimmer was really liked by Jerry he just wasnt a guy for Parcells. I think he would be a name to watch if he is ousted in Minnesota.
and what exactly has he done in Viking land that would make his so attractable? other than the fact he is NOT JG? This is his 6th NFL HC season and he has 1 playoff win. Look, I think coaching is overated in the NFL (Sean McVay anyone?) but the same complaints people have about JG, just insert MZ and he would qualify for much of the same complaints.

Zimmer is another guy who can’t get the job done.

He’s not a championship level coach.

But is Zimmer just another puppet coach under Jerry? I just don't want another "yes man". I want a coach that demands to have authority to do what needs to be done. Does Zimmer have that type of personality?

He’s another country club member is what he is.

Exactly.

Zimmer is another family friend who doesn’t get results.

For anyone still complaining about Zimmer's defense he ran when he was here, he doesn't run the same defense anymore. Once he got to Cincy, he learned from Marv Lewis and his defense evolved. For one thing, he blitzes much more than he did here. And his blitz aren't just vanilla type either. He is known for his double A gap blitzes. He'll typically have 2 LBs threatening the 2 A gaps and a FS and a Nickle Corner lined up on the LOS. Not all will blitz and some will drop back but that's what it makes it hard on the offense. The offense don't know who is coming out of the four.

That's one thing Zimmer is different from JG. He isn't stubborn and stuck in one's ways. He was willing to change when Parcells wanted go to a 3-4. Zim is willing to adapt and evolve. I also heard he still talks to Parcells every week.
he was willing to change....lol... like wth was he gonna say to Parcels... uhm, no Bill, im keeping MY DEFENSE as is???? cmon, you either do what the Tuna wanted or youd be out the door.

i can't imagine he would keep moore in any scenario and if he did why would you want him here.....You would be hiring him because of his hard nosed demanding ways and day one he would be conceding power to jerry already? Doesn't make much sense.

I don't know that he has had a less talented team than the cowboys over the last 2 years. The only spot Dallas is better than they are is on the offensive line and maybe RB. Its an achievement though to make the playoffs with bridgewater and keenum and he deserves credit for that.

I also think if he came here he would want to play the way that vikings team with bridgewater played, smash mouth and aggressive on defense which I am in favor of...I just don't think he is the guy to do this at this point.

every coach is going to be viewed as a yes man. Face it, ALL nfl coaches are yes men to some degree. Hey, why is Jimmy G in SF? Didnt Billy Boy want to keep him? oh, the owner told Billy Boy what time it was and he politely sent Jimmg G packing for NOTHING. ..... yes sir, said Bill.

Why are we always focus on a guy with NFL experience? Jimmy Johnson built a team that went to 3 Super Bowls and won them. He did not have the NFL experience, he had his way to mold a team into a championship quality team and a way to put the chemistry together to make 53 guys function as one. Sorry but I want that type of coach that is not afraid to bring something new, take chances, and get excited about every play. So for my money give me a Rhule or Riley or Eliott (OC Clemson) before any of the NFL experience coaches. So they conflict with Jerry, who cares as long as they get the job done. If Jerry hasn't learned his lesson from when he fired Johnson, then he never will and the Cowboys will never be a great team until he steps down. Pretty simple!

They should let Zimmer go even if they beat the Saints.

Depending on who is running the offense, Zimmer works for me. There is no denying his ability to call a defense. It won't be anymore of this passive, reactive BS either. He's aggressive.

Did you also notice that they tackled our players really well? Sounds simple, but too complicated for us apparently.

I saw a disciplined, hard-nosed team in the Vikings.

First of all, the Vikings would be stupid to fire him. That team was terrible before he got there and now they're one of the better teams in the conference and have been for a few years.

Second, he's not another Jones pushover. There was a SI article years ago about the 2002 pre draft meetings where he was going at Jerry (and Jason's dad Jim, who insisted Phillip Buchanon was the truth - LOL) pretty hard.

That's a big reason I think he'd be good here, because he's someone Jerry would be comfortable with but he's also not a yes man.

If there's is a knock on Zimmer's defenses it's that they're OVER eager and too aggressive at times, but would any one here not welcome that change? He'd have Jaylon screaming around the corner on blitzes.

Zimmer wouldn't be my top choice, but if he's available he would definitely be in the discussion for me.

Yup the time to say no is at hire.
After you've said that first yes... well you are a yes man.

If you dictate terms in the beginning a la Rhule or BP you retain some control make no mistake these guys all serve at the whims of the people who hired them.
You just pick your master but ultimately we all have one.

I don't hate Zimmer but it does very much feel like treading water.
He's like the defensive version of JG.

I will say the way the DC used Jaylon Smith was criminal.
They treated him like Brian Urlacher instead of a guy whose a pit bull going forward and poodle when you put him on skates.
