What if there's no announcement Thursday or even Friday?

We all have our theories and expectations of what may happen and here’s mine. I think if no announcement is made by Friday I think Jerry is slow playing this situation as he’s waiting to see if his guy becomes available. And by his guy I mean Mike Zimmer.

We all know Jerry gets attached to coaches and players and I think Zimmer is one of those guys. We also know that Jerry loves familiarity. And another familiar name is Norv Turner. Norv is without a job now with the coaching change in Carolina. My gut is telling me Jerry isn’t in a hurry and has even said he doesn’t care if all the names being mentioned get hired and it’s because Meyer, Rhule and others aren’t his priority. He wants Zimmer leading the team and fixing the defense and Norv grooming Dak and running the offense. Ole Jerruh wants to get the band back together so to speak.

I think it all boils down to Jerry isn’t getting any younger and he’s feeling the pressure from Father Time. He doesn’t have the time to bring in a college guy and let him learn the league. He doesn’t have time to bring in a young hot shot assistant and let him learn how to be a head coach. He does know Zimmer is a demanding, task master type coach that is highly capable of fixing the defense. He knows Norv can help Dak develop more consistentcy to his game and get the most out of him and the running game. He knows what these coaches are capable of and he’s worked with them before and they Jerry. So in the end I think Jerry stays within his comfort zone and hires his guys. Not saying I’m in favor of this should it happen but I can see this happening.

So if he can’t get Zimmer, he will just bring back Garrett?

That may be. It's certainly plausible.

But it has no relevancy to why there would, then, need to be "talks" going on with Red. In other words, he could do that and just sit at home playing x-box.

I don’t think so. I think he’s just picking Garrett’s mind and waiting to see if Zimmer gets fired after the weekend. I think of Zimmer isn’t available he’ll start the interview process with other candidates. And as i said this is just my theory and i certainly hope I’m wrong.

theres also another idea about a Zimmer/Kubiak combo.
with Jerry...the only thing for sure is...nothings for sure.

I could live with Zimmer.
not my first choice but I think he could fix the defense...and is a good football coach.
wouldnt be shocked if Zimmer is the HC and he keeps K Moore.
at this point nothing would surprise me.

Id guess if no announcement then it won’t come. Jerry will just let it play out letting his contract expire Jan 14th without any fanfare.

Maybe Jerry is trying to convince Jason to retire with a sob speech like Romo did and Jerry’s trying to negotiate a TV job for him like he probably did with Romo. Lol

What’s there to pick?

There is really zero reason to not announce they will go in a different direction at HC.
 
they're are just going over who Jason will need this year after everybody is fired. looks like they are looking for new coordinators for the team.
 
JJ wants to announce it to make a splash and take attention from something. Then we will wait to see who we get as a new HC. The longer JG stays around in meetings the more I worry he will stay.
 
then the number of people starting their own threads of paranoia and frustration will get even more out of hand.
 
I’ll be annoyed. Which means it’ll probably happen. I still think/hope he’s gone.

I’m gonna need to do some crazy mental somersaults to back this team if JG isn’t let go. Cognitive dissonance will lead to drinking and maybe I can hit the acceptance stage by first game of the season.
