No one talking about Matt Rhule this morning?

I am surprised there is not more chatter about Matt Rhule this morning after Baylor was defeated by a banged up Georgia Bulldogs team last night. I admit I haven't watched much college football this year and this was my first real look at Baylor and their head coach, Matt Rhule. Its one game and I will keep that in perspective, but as I watched the game I tried to picture Rhule as the Cowboys Head Coach. The parallels to the Cowboys were inescapable. Georgia was missing a bunch of injured starters yet they dominated. Does that sound familiar? Baylor made a lot of dumb mistakes, like encroachment penalties, dropped passes, and a really bad decision to go for it on 4th and 4 around mid-field early in the 4th quarter. They failed, gave Georgia momentum and a short field. Georgia drove for a TD to basically ice the game. I wonder if Rhule had a Maher-type kicker, would he have tried a 60 yard FG instead of going for it? This was all too reminiscent of the Cowboys 2019 season.

Again, it was one game, but maybe it was a sign that Matt Rhule is not the guy for the Dallas Cowboys.

Yep Garrett will return with a whole new staff

I’m just saying there’s more than just the results of the game to measure coaching and performance of players.

There really isn't.

In the end, coaches are judged on wins and losses, especially come playoff time. To suggest the outcomes of games, at the NFL level, are not the primary gauge of a coach and his staff is hilarious.

But again, not surprising coming from you who is constantly on the fence about what to do with Garrett.

LOL.

Garrett got a fairly smooth ride until that third 8-8 season, then the calls got louder until he spit out that 12-4 year and got a new contract.

Lol! No, he didn’t get a smooth ride until his 3rd season what games were you watching?!?

And fans were apoplectic over that extension.

Rhule is a program builder. A team like the Giants should hire him ASAP to get them through the rebuild. I don't know if he'd be as good of a fit here, where he would be expected to take the team to the next level.

If I were a college team, I'd hire Rhule over Riley. If I were the Cowboys, I'd hire Riley (I think his background as an offensive mind is perfect for today's NFL).
Correct. A program builder. Not as good of Field General.

And I think Garrett could be considered as such too.

You’re generalizing. Not a sound argument.

Some fans are unreasonable. Absolutely.

that doesn’t mean that Garrett isn’t responsible for the fact that he hasn’t accomplished anything.

I was generalizing in the first post, too. Because I’m speaking in general in this case. That doesn’t make the argument unsound.

My thoughts on Garrett revolve around his influence on our dysfunctional organization. Not necessarily on his on field performance.

That's simply not true. He got a pretty solid pass those first two seasons when he went 8-8, with many just saying he was taking over a dysfunctional team that needed to be rebuilt. The third 8-8 season saw a lot more fans start to turn on him and yes, there were still fans livid about the extension but to suggest fans got on him right from teh start of his career is false.

here's my issues with both Matt Ruhle and urban meyer; are they gonna be versatile or run exactly what they ran in college ?

Matt Ruhle runs that RPO on every series all game long and infatuate with it, but theres no variety to it, i could understand the occasional RPO look to throw defenses off in confusion but Ruhle runs it all the time -
- and zeke just seems to run ball much better on conventional deep hand offs from QB under center than this RPO draw play hand offs, imo . ..

Is there anything beyond Meyer than this QB shove-shuttle run ? Dak is not that kind of Lamar jackson and Colin Kap athletic wise
and that form of running ball is gonna give him more and more shots on his body.

Seeing Baylor try to single cover Pickens most of the game reminds me too much of a JG coached team.

Then what's the problem here? You can't change the owner. You can only change the coach.

And yet we can often find you here being wishy washy on the whole concept of dumping Garrett.
Because I think we are more screwed because of Jerry. How many puppets have we had with no better results?

My support of Garrett again is revolved more around I haven’t seen any evidence this era Jerry is going to make a better decision. So, despite Jason’s coaching flaws I believe he offers much more off the field influencing a better product within the dysfunction of the immovable object.

especially a game that is a glorified exhibition game in which a lot of players dont play in, some coaches have left, and its been 3-4 weeks since their last game..

other then the playoff bowl games , these are just a bonus game for the team and fans to feel good about but most are truly meaningless exhibition games..

Lol, yea.

It's one thing to be less talented than Georgia - even their JV team - but it's another to not make any discernible adjustments.

I’m sold on Rhule his career is similar to Bill O’Brien’s and he’s far more likable

guys like that you have to hire a year early or it’ll be too late. I think we’ll regret passing on him for some coordinator that’ll get chewed up and spit out by the Jones Family Machine
