I think Meyer is actually our worst chance.

Of all the names mentioned, which one has the largest ego?

Which one has a history of a problem with authority?

Which one is the most likely to react to eyes turning to the Joneses, for authentication, in team meetings?

stash, I do not think we have a best chance. Until we know for a fact that they're going to let the HC run his part of the team, like the other successful clubs do, it doesn't matter who they hire.

Exactly right. And that's why if Meyer did take the job, it would mean that he hit the power and authority that he wanted. That Jones gave that up.

All would be positives for me.

I'm good friends with a Utah booster that has some ties to Urban from his time here.

Feeling from him is that it's unlikely Meyer goes for it as Meyer wants complete control and freedom including more of a stake in player personnel decision. If he's going to fail, he's going to fail on his terms. He doesn't need the money or the fame, but he's hungry to coach again, it's just in his DNA.

I just don't see this front office yielding that much control to him. Would love to be proven wrong, but I think Meyer is probably a fantasy.

If the Vikings who haven’t made a super bowl in forever didnt want Zimmer why do the Cowboys? Just because he was around 15 years ago? Newman could be the DB coach.

Kubiak as OC is intriguing. But Zimmer isn’t going to be around for more than 4-5 more years. He’d be best to be as DC for a young guy like Riley or Campbell. Serve as mentor while also having a real role calling the defense.

I’m fine with not having a long term coach.

I don’t want a coach longer then 4 or 5 years unless they won something.

Change and change often until you find the guy. It doesn’t take a Super Bowl winning coach very long to win their 1st title.
yea but it would suck to have us get to a title game in 2-3 years and meyer decides he's back to retirement. :)

in any event, garrett is gone. i'll take this like alcoholism - one day at a time and be happy at the progress.

Im actually worried about Mike Zimmer.

I know he’s under contract but the Jones’s love him and they may move mountains to bring him in here.

Zimmer is another do nothing head coach though and we won’t win anything with him.

Or Jerry will promote Kellen Moore to HC for a year and sacrifice another season to get Zimmer here when he becomes available. Despite the belief of some fans, I see nothing from Jerry that indicates an urgency to win now.

This is it for me too.

A friend of mine texted me, that he would like to see Eberflus return as HC, what say you?
I would prefer him but he's known as a discipline guy and can he hard nosed, are they going to allow him to only give them one cookie after their nap?

If Meyer does indeed get an interview I think he absolutely smokes the other candidates. Obviously it will come down to whether or not the Jones's will give Meyer the control he needs without undermining him. Make no mistake about it guys, Meyer is as close to Jimmy as we will get, and he is so smart when it comes to football... He is the polar opposite of the freckled puppet.

Agreed. Meyer getting the job means Jerry took a step back most likely. Best outcome I think.

Which is why I do not see that happening, this conjecture all started because of what Meyer said on a pregame show. We are only discussing him from what he said.

Do you really think Booger would ever return to the Parcells days? According to Broaddus, through his contacts at Valley Ranch at the time, they were all concerned about Booger because he was so depressed because he was no longer the face and voice of the Cowboys. Booger is a media addict.

I do not think Meyer has ever been on the list of possible HC's. Booger said his main reluctance to change was because he was comfortable with Garrett, do you see Meyer making him comfortable?

The reason Johnson left was a clash of egos. Meyer has one equal to Johnson's. When two enlarged egos meet, one must subrogate itself to the other. Do you see that happening with either of these guys?
