yes.
I think he's an excellent coach.
Im very intrigued by the things he wants to implement with analytics dept.,futures coaches and spending his time on a deep dive of what works and what doesnt.
reminds me of Coach Landry and his study of tendencies.
very bold move.
I like it.
its good for Dak and this young team as well.

Also, this team is in a short window to be a serious contender. Did Jerry want a college coach to come in and learn in the NFL under this current window? By the time a college coach got his feet under him, a rebuild would be underway.

Not to mention, I wonder if any of the three guys(Riley, Meyer, Rhule) even want to coach at this level right now. I don’t think Meyer wants to coach at all, Riley isn’t ready where Rhule might be the only one to really consider moving up.

McCarthy has skins on the wall and maybe these country club players will listen to what he says. Accountability would be a good thing to see.

Mike was the best of the bunch of ex-NFL coaches available and I know it isn’t the exciting up and comer but this Dallas team needs someone to give them more structure. Time will tell but I am excited and haven’t felt this way since Parcells came to town.

He's a good hire, and also has a demonstrated line of accountability...as fans, we need to toss out the window, trying to toss away previous excuses and trying to mentally replace those with perceived but hypothetical pluses.

This coach is better equipped to direct the current Dallas talent successfully as well as aggressively. Both are relevant today.

The NFL is here and now, and he will have to direct the Cowboys just as that demands. He has to meet today's challenges and no over-riding excuse matters. The new Cowboys have to come out and make opponents pay for any level of success. That is McCarthy's new job...in Dallas. He has to meet this challenger, here and now!

I'm going to love watching this, despite any player frustrations, stumped toes, or angers.

Sir, YOU are our new coach...and there is NO right way to do the WRONG thing!

We could have done worse, but I think we could have done much better. Also not interested in the idea of keeping the current offensive staff or Dak. So we'll see what happens there.

That he got a 5 year deal is concerning, because it seems like he'll start off by keeping Dak at minimum for a year rather than trying to get that rookie QB now.

I'm pretty indifferent on the decision to bring him onboard. Wasn't a super exciting hire but it was a solid choice. I could see this going either way. I do feel there is more upside though.

People keep saying "but he had Rodgers and only got 1 Super Bowl out of him" and then turn around and clamoring for how they want Sean Payton. Not to mention I believe McCarthy should deserve some credit for helping groom Rodgers into the player he is.

While I believe, based on his record, MMc is an improvement over JG, it remains to be seen if he can achieve similar results working under Jerry/Stephen.

For instance, will he be allowed to choose his own coaching staff...or will he be required to keep certain coaches who Jerry might favor?

It’s one thing if MMc keeps an incumbent coach because he himself wants him; quite another if he’s forced to do so by the FO.

Absolutely not, McCarthy is a trash coach. He had Rodgers and still couldn't do anything with him. He doesn't hold any players accountable (Jason Garrett) and I believe he got pick cause he a "yes man" and will please Jerry Jones. With that said, he will do better than Jason Garrett especially on this stack offense. Now Dak fanboys will have no more excuses and in the end this Cowboys forum will still be the same with Chaos!

Winning a Super Bowl and going to 4 conference championship games isn’t “nothing”. Saying so is just stupid.

If you just swap MM for JG then no not really. If MM has more authority then I'm for it and nothing matters unless we upgrade the supporting staff as well. Let's see how the position coaches shake out esp on defense
