CZ POLL Do you like the hiring of Mike McCarthy as head coach of the Cowboys?

I’m concerned McCarthy and the DCs being mentioned are the must haves from a decade ago. Not today.

Perhaps Jerry wants to erase the mistake he made ten years ago. I’d personally prefer the up and comers. I thought Jerry was a risk taker!

Absolutely not, McCarthy is a trash coach. He had Rodgers and still couldn't do anything with him. He doesn't hold any players accountable (Jason Garrett) and I believe he got pick cause he a "yes man" and will please Jerry Jones. With that said, he will do better than Jason Garrett especially on this stack offense. Now Dak fanboys will have no more excuses and in the end this Cowboys forum will still be the same with Chaos!

Nope. But the reality is we are never going to see another Jimmy Johnson here. So understanding who the owner is, I guess I just have to be happy Garrett is gone and we don't have Jeff Fisher or Marvin Lewis as HC.

Absolutely love the hire. His resume brings instant credibility and I feel he will be refreshed after taking a year off of coaching in the NFL. Already excited about next season.

Like some have said, the DC will determine the success of whoever was hired as HC. Mike will not have to learn on the job, has many connections and can tutor Moore if he stays.

He also isn’t family and will be jettisoned after 2-3 seasons if it isn’t working. Lets just hope that he isn’t a filler like Wade was for Moore/Witten to take over at the first opportunity.

Garrett is history, embrace that and enjoy the unknown ride again

Maybe he is a filler before we eventually hire Peyton after the Saints sink.

So he wins a SB which is hard to do with Rodgers and he is trash. Then Payton must be trash also as he has only won ONE SB with Brees.

Totally underwhelming. They didn’t even perform a diligent search. I’m sick of the way this franchise does things but I can’t not be a Cowboys fan. I hate it.

So you were there and know all the research the Cowboys did and were in on all the discussions Jerry and Stephen had while they decided McCarthy was their guy? How were you able to pull that off? Why wasn't any of us able to do that?
