Super Bowl or Bust. How long does Mike get?

So he's going to get as short of a leash as Gailey?
Gailey 2 years
Campo 3 years
Bill 4 years
Wade 3 1/2 years

The leashes have been pretty short. Even Barry was only 4 years and Jimmy 5.

But this situation is different IMO because Jerry thinks this team should be contending now. Not 3-5 years from now.

Your comparison in tenures doesn’t apply to my argument here.

Either you believe like Jerry, Stephen , media, critics and many fans that this team is talented enough to contend now being held back by coaching or you don’t.

It had nothing to do with the last 9 years. Mike doesn’t need to build a team. He has one that most think should have been contending now.
That’s nonsensical for you to suggest an ultimatum to Garrett would have nothing to do with how many chances he had. Your comments are so nonsensical I have to wonder if you are just stirring up crap or trying to play a joke.

But let’s do this ... I want you to name all the teams that ever fired a coach after 1-2 years if he got to the playoffs and won a few playoff games. After all, if winning the Super Bowl is a set in stone, all or nothing, do it or lose your job requirement for any new coach that takes over a team with some talent, that has to happen all the time, right?

They believed that this year and look how wrong they were. They can believe whatever they want. I'll believe what I see with my own eyes. This team needs new talent in some key areas and leadership before it's SB ready.
I understand but I’m talking about what the vibe was out there. And what Jerry believes. And what the media and fans spew. That’s the whole reason we are where we are now.

My over /under is 2 years.

If we haven’t made a Super Bowl in 2 years he’s toast.

If we miss playoffs again could be one and done.

I'm not looking for a SB to determine whether or not he keeps his job. I'm looking for a highly competitive team. Similar to how Landry led the team for so many years. Not an unprepared lukewarm team.

We can’t compare our dysfunctional situation to other franchises.

You either believe this hire was to win now with this roster or not? I’m not trying to convince you. I really don’t care if you agree or not.

But I do intend to express my viewpoint and argue it vigorously because I believe in it.

We don't really know what Jerry believes at this point. Maybe someone sat him down and explained the problems to him and what it would take to fix them. Maybe they laid out a plan to fix things in a short time. It's unlikely, but possible (especially if he gets that credit he wants so bad).

He definitely acted differently publicly this past month, so something changed in some way at least. He didn't hold a giant press conference regarding the new coaching hires. Someone might have finally gotten through to him that the team needs one voice and the owner is not that voice for the most part. I doubt it, but we will see.

So division titles and a few playoff wins is ok. Similar to what we’ve had. Not raising the bar?

Who cares if we have more success as long as we are more prepared and better coached. lol

I don't think Jerry will be married to McCarthy like he was Garrett (thank god) but if we are competitive like those Green Bay teams, get to the NFC Championship or a Super bowl then McCarthy might be here awhile. Two losing seasons could definitely be doom this time around.....Hopefully Jerry learned from his mistake with Garrett on that front but there should be a golden-mean. A guy like McCarthy shouldn't be fired after one year.

Sure we do. He tells us every time he has a mic or camera in front of him.

He acted differently cause he was being forced to release his favorite puppet. lol

Amazing how naive fans are after all of these years. Wow

He wasn't forced to do anything. It's naive to think he was forced. I'm not saying he changed. I said I doubted it... I just think he's maybe possibly remotely open to trying something at least a little different and only because he's feeling his years. We're probably still screwed until he's dead.

That’s very gullible IMO.

He obviously was torn having to let Jason go which should remind us how out of whack his selfish egotistical priorities are.

And, again, a hire hoping to win now doesn’t automatically mean win in 1-2 years or your fired. Your continued insistence and treating those things as identical is so illogical it’s laughable.

And your entire premise about the supposed ultimatum is contrary to what the idea of it was. The premise that led to the suggestion of an ultimatum was based on it being time for Garrett to crap or get of the pot. Had it been a new coach last season nobody would have ever suggested there was an ultimatum. That either somehow sailed over your head, or you are intentionally ignoring it.

My Bar is SB in 2 years.

But I’ll be looking for a deeper push in the playoffs this year.

GL to us and expect pretty much what we've seen the past 2 years.....and maybe worse as the Skins and Giants are due for a turn-around.

Yet by all accounts, the new HC is being given the power to choose his staff. Huh... wait, that's DIFFERENT. I'm aware of how selfish, egotistical, and stubborn Jerry is. But right now we're seeing something a little different. Is it true? I don't know. We'll see what we see, but it isn't playing out the same way that it has been. If you can't see that it's playing out a little differently, then you're letting hatred blind you.

I never said he wasn't torn having to let Jason go. I said he wasn't forced to. He still had the stadium selling out. He is still the owner. He wasn't forced to do anything.

It wasn’t totally based on his 9 year tenure.

Everyone thought after last year that going deeper in playoffs and making at least championship game was a natural expectation. It had nothing to do with previous 9 years. It was all about this current team and roster feeling that with 2 division titles and playoff win this core of talent should be taking the next step.

Regardless the point remains this team is expected to win now. Not 3-5 years. But I don’t guess you will even admit that. And this hire is about winning now. You may not believe that but I do.

Of course he was literally forced to because he was worried he’d lose fans and the media pressure would be overwhelming. That’s how we’d define being forced. As forced as possible for Jerry.

And what I see is similar to when we hired Bill. Jerry realized he needed more expertise to get us over the hump. I hope it works . But I’m not giving him credit for anything yet because if we hadn’t forced his hand he wouldn’t have acted. And he’s still capable of screwing this up just like he did with Bill.

The idea of an ultimatum was entirely because it was his 9th year. That’s not to say people wouldn’t have had high expectations for this season with a new coach in his first or second year, but nobody would go have dreamed up the idea of a ultimatum of NFC Championship or get fired with a coach in his first or second year.
