How is having the #1 offense in yards and the #1 offense in scoring a terrible season. He was the only bright spot.

I mean.. I think it's pretty clear we padded our stats against bad teams and none of that translated against teams with winning records.

I'm confused by this question. Are you trying to suggest that because he didn't choose option B that he didn't need to think about it?
260 points in 7 games. All wins. 37 pts a game.

All against defenses ranked 17 or lower.

The rest? 9 games. 1 win. 19 points a game.

That doesn't make a good season.

We didn't have the #1 offense in scoring. We were #6

There was some of that, although the way you express it makes it sound as if there was an intentional effort to "pad stats". But we also had 475 yards against the Rams, and 443 yard against the Vikings, and 563 yards against the Packers, and 426 yards against the Bills. Plus, there were also early games where we got a big lead and went ultra conservative on offense much of the 2nd half in an effort to just run down the clock. Ultimately a team doesn't put up the numbers the Cowboys did solely on stat padding, plus, let's not forget that other teams have games like that from time to time too.

The problem was more with the slow starts and lack of consistency in getting the ball in the end zone through the middle part of the season. Moving the ball is well and good, but it still has to result in TDs to matter.

IMO, it's more of a guy to implement McCarthy's offense and maybe add some of his concepts that MM approves. Not someone to install their own offense and calls their own plays. Mike made his name with his offense, he's not handing it over to anyone. I am trying to see it as a positive, in that hiring an OC that was purely a McCarthy disciple they wouldn't add anything that Mike doesn't already know. We'll see. With that said, I also get wanting a complete house cleaning too...
Clarence Hill did seem to indicate in his column today that McCarthy will call plays. Not sure how he knows.

Umm he was offered OC at the University of Washington and he's from Washington so yes he thought about it with family and the opportunity to be Wash head coach in a few years
Big decision to make. Very much a feather in his cap just to be offered it. Interesting that Petersen just quit as head coach there.

Regardless of the stats from 2019, do you think it possible that Big Mike sees something in Moore? The same thing that others seem to see in him?

I really don't know what anyone can take from last season, the team was inconsistent and not focused and it was more Hollywood than football. Big Mike strikes me as a no nonsense kind of guy and Moore does as well. He seems very focused on his job while the circus is going on around him.

That's why I wanted either Rivera or Big Mike, credibility with the team and guys that look and talk like real football coaches. He saw enough in Moore's coaching and play calling that he thinks he's a fit for his staff.

Also padded by bad field position so we had the potential for longer drives to begin with. For the most part though I saw guys open and a lot of drive killing mistakes by players. But we were also 15th in the getting a TD in the red zone.

Personally I like Moore a lot. Yes he'll learn from Mike but I do believe he will be great at helping to constantly evolve the offensive concepts. Plus I don't think it can be understated that the absolute dumbest time to change the offense is at the end of your QB's rookie contract when you are about to commit to big money, and that's what we are doing. Who knows Dak better than Moore and will be best suited to make sure he succeeds in whatever the offense looks like next year?

All that with starting every darn drive from their own 20.

Moore was never even considering the other options he had. He was just praying Mike brought him back. No 30 year old guy in the world who calls plays for the offense of the Dallas Cowboys leaves that position to become a highschool softball coach or whatever it was they claim he was offered.

The defensive coordinator for Washington University is not a "highschool softball coach or whatever."

I believe McCarthy will install and call the offense regardless of who the OC is. The jury is still out on me with Moore. I wonder how much the red headed Genius had on the play calling. Especially when Romo says " that's the offense we ran in 2017" Maybe McCarthy can teach the kid something.
