Yeah, but Marv Levy definitely wasn't a HOF coach and they put him in. And he has the same basic record as JJ. Except missing the championships. So it was ridiculous having Levy in but Johnson out.

I have no problem with Levy being in but Jimmy should have been in years ago.

Some are able to accomplish things in a short time frame that others take a lifetime trying and fail to do what Jimmy did.

As much as I love the Cowboys and the 90's Cowboys, I don't think Jimmy is deserving of being in the HOF.
His career was not long enough to establish that he was worthy of that honor.
He definitely deserves to be in the Cowboys Ring of Honor but not the HOF
IMPACT

This is why Jimmy got in. Impact over rides longevity.

Same reason players like Gayle Sayers got in after only playing 5 years. Or Namath with only a few great years. Their enormous talent and impact to the game were enough to overcome longevity or career stats. During their peak were one of the best.

Remember the HOF wants a group who represents the best to play , coach, administrate or own in their eras. Not a group who were in the league a long time.

Jimmy was certainly one of the best in his era despite an abbreviated stint. And that’s what’s great about the HOF. Sometimes it takes generations before someone is finally recognized. The fact he didn’t have a longer stint is what’s prevented him from getting in up until now.

After 25 years I think it’s become fairly obvious the IMPACT Jimmy had with the Cowboys and NFL and why he is a deserving inductee regardless of any other shortcomings like longevity. During his time in the NFL and Cowboys inparticularly he was one of if not the best. That’s all you need to get in.

Spoken like a true JG fan... or JJ himself.
length of a career does not define ones accomplishments on the field.
He is primarily responsible for building the 90’s team and technically that SB in 95 even though it was Switzer as HC... that win is all Jimmy’s and his legacy.

Yep he completely rebuilt the team from the ground up and did it pretty quick. They almost made the playoffs his 2nd year even with a 7-9 record. That was after purposely making sure the first year was as bad as it could be so they could have good draft picks and use that currency to get trades like Charles Haley and Thomas Everett

Jimmy deserves to be in, because if you believe that an Elite Head Coach is worth more than any one Elite Player, well the players he is associated with are a lot of Hall of Famers. There would've been more if he had stayed, the dynasty would've been greater. The impact he had here, fans still wish the coach here would be him, even in years we have other hall of fame coaches here that we love like Parcells, we wish Jimmy was the Coach.

Jimmy definitely belongs in fact it’s long overdue . Had current and fairly recent cowboy players had some of the discipline and direction provided by jimmy our trophy case would quite possibly have 7 in it

Make no mistake jimmy was aided by a great trade but you don’t win 3 SBs and multiple national championships if you don’t excel at coaching and before you all chime in no I don’t give Switzer credit for 95

edit I guess he only had 1 national championship

long overdue congrats jimmy now go get back on your boat

I think its great he is in the HOF. His knowledge of the college football players was what helped Jerry assemble a juggernaut of a dynasty. Had Jerry been able to swallow his pride that team may of won 2 more SBs. The funny thing about the announcement is Troy on camera wasnt even smiling.
