I'm interested in any DE that can help. Problem is cost.

We have some questions at DE with Quinn and Bennett both free agents. Clowney has said he wants to play for a team he thinks can win a SB and might be willing to take a bit less to go to a winner. Seattle has some interesting free agents so they might not be able to bring him back (or some of their other key guys).

I think people are kind of short selling how dire the situation is at DE for the Cowboys. You have Lawrence and that's it. Armstrong didn't show a ton and he's probably a solid back up at best. Can you count on Gregory? Probably not. Taco is eating tacos in Miami.

DE has to be a priority in FA and/or the draft.
I'd sign him for 7-9 million.

He couldn't get to Rodgers yesterday

What makes you think he can here?
Lets see how he does healthy nd with the team for all of training camp. He's the most talented DE ever. He's also the biggest flop ever. so far

Yeah, if Clowney wants to play for around 6 mil, sure, I'll take him. He is good, he's just not good enough to warrant 20 mil/season.

When he feels like it he is.......problem is he doesn’t feel like it too much

He's an athletic freak but it hasn't resulted in any elite performances from him.

I would rather try to keep Quinn.

yeah I agree.
Never know what you will get with the Clownshow ...I’ve seen him look unblockable and dominate offenses and I’ve seen him show no effort for long stretches...he is wicked talented but I don’t trust his head for a big contract

For all of the hype, has he ever had double digit sacks in a season?

What Clowney brings to the table is 6-10 sacks a year, position flexibility, and godly run defense. I think $12M-$15M is a fair price for the disruption he brings to the table. For $20M, there's not a chance he will live up to that. DLaw is about Clowney's equal as a run defender and is a better/more consistent pass rusher. If you guys don't like his deal at $20M a season, you'd really be upset with Clowney

This is also why Houston wanted to get rid of him. BOB was not going to give him the money he wanted, and Clowney didn't want to play for a team who he knew would just franchise tag him and then dump him on the curb.

overrated and another distraction we don't need. This is a great draft if you need a dlinemen/edge guy. PASS on Clowney.

I'd be so happy if they signed Clowney.

Add him to that DLine and the garbage they intend to trot out there in that secondary may not be all that awful.

I would have given the 20M per to him over Cooper.

Coopers replacement could have been found in this unusually deep WR class, and the perfect year to lose one in FA, but nope, had to keep that inconsistent band together.

Before ya'll roast me for that...

Think ahead to that road game against a contending team next year when Cooper is nowhere to be found, we cant get a pass rush because Lawrence is doubled, and the secondary cant cover anyone.

At least with Clowney opposite Lawrence there would always be a rush, and give that awful secondary a chance. Coopers 20M doesnt make the secondary better, Clowney would have.

Although I disagree w/ paying Clowney 20 mil, I do agree that I'd have paid him that before Coop.

Overrated? Only by himself. As witnessed by the lack of offers, it's well known that he's a very good player, but not great. And I've never heard of him being a distraction.
