I think his goal here is genuine and commendable. I want to see him get back to form on the field, and limit his celebrations to more appropriate moments, but I can't fault the man for wanting to accomplish something as selfless and important as this.

That's great. Really it is. Jaylon's the best dresser. Best LB. Best human being. Best at being the best. He's just the best.

Anyone that is questioning or wishing his focus would be on football for a little while is just wrong.

Better?
So now youre being a little B because you got called out on something that was ridiculous? I could see if this guy was there with no credential or just to be there. But he's dedicated his time and money in forming a foundation to this cause and you question him?

I am torn on this stuff. Clearly the intentions here are a good thing. I have completely flipped on Smith though. Any other player I would like this. Smith? Just seems phony to me. This guy is all about his brand and image. I wish he would have mastered football a few more seasons before diving head first into this stuff. It seems like such a distraction for a guy that repeatedly avoided contact as a NFL linebacker. I see more of that this coming season and I will be convinced the guy isn’t serious about football but is really serious about being Jaylon Smith.

Am I wrong here?

I am torn on some of this stuff. ON one hand, I am happy that Jaylon is helping young kids focus on education.

On the other hand he is focusing only on minorities. To me, there is an issue there. Why leave out any child in his help?

What if someone was to come out and open up a "Majority kids foundation"? What would be the reaction there?

I'm not, you are right. Jaylon's the best. Go Jaylon.

Yep.

You been buying LVE’s Wolf Hunter apparel?

I mean in your OP, you said any other player you’d be on board with them shilling for a buck.

It’s not like LVE has better things to do, like “focus on getting better” or “showing leadership” or “healing”. He’s fine out there throwing up his stupid wolf howl and selling camo caps with his initials, name and brand. I mean he had one good season, surely he’s entitled.

Clearly there’s just ... something different. Can’t put my finger on it but maybe if you just set aside your ..tu adducendum (snort), you’d have the “self awareness” to see it.

I have ripped LVE all year. The Wolfhunter stuff is silly for a guy that had a good rookie year and was terrible this season. I believe you are suggesting something else. A classic move these days. To be clear you are 100% wrong. Favorite player on the team for me...might be Dak. So you can shove your innuendos up yer arse.

Goooooo Jaylon!!!

I deleted it moments after I wrote it. The sentiment inexpressed is true for many posters here, but I will admit that you have called out LVE for his play.

my apologies

I am all for Jaylon Smith, his causes, his contributions, his desire to make himself wealthy and inspiring the underprivileged, his background. I have zero issue with him endorsing everything from condoms, wack sunglasses, widgets or whatever.

However, I am not for #54 Jaylon Smith.
One of the absolute worst LBers I've ever seen in 2019: who drives an Optimus Prime - level hype-machine 24-7/365, completely lacking self awareness, discipline, and courage while reminding everyone what's in his Lady Gaga inspired haute couture wardrobe.

I've said it before: the first time Jaylon looks like the player he was this season in 2020, I'm unloading him for a bag of Giardetto's and a pineapple Fanta.

Agree with most of that. But what you have to understand about these Lbers is that NO linebacker is EVER going to have a good year playing behind the worst DT's in the NFL. Its like asking a QB to play great behind an Oline that cant block for him.

And its no coincidence that both Jaylon and LVE all of a sudden regressed in the same season. THAT being said, it doesn't excuse every missed tackle they made last year. Jaylon in particular is a "finesse" linebacker. His speed and quickness and athletic ability was what he is known for. Even in college he had a tendency to get washed out by linemen getting to the 2nd level and running the ball right at him.

Personally, I think he is an outside linebacker. LVE is more suited to play inside. It was one of the major disconnects of Marinelli. Jaylon, to do his job properly, needs to be flying around to the ball and needs the lineman kept off of him. Power and shedding blocks is his weakness. Makes no sense to have him playing the middle and going cheap on Dtackles.

Now the guy is obviously REALLY REALLY proud of the way he looks. I would prefer and down and dirty, gritty tough guy leading my defense. A Charles Haley type. Charles would NEVER put up with a bunch of guys calling themselves "The Hot Boyz". LOL

And there is nothing more annoying to me than "style glasses" on a young person. As if that helps make them look intelligent? Why would someone want to pretend they have bad eyesight? LOL

No, not really. Perhaps for those with an agenda like you have. I’ve proved you wrong and you can’t handle it. Not surprised.

Lool “I proved you wrong with numbers that aren’t even an official statistic!!!”

Okay Amber.

Charles would just whip his **** out during meetings and get in fights in the locker room. Let's get more "leaders" like him.

Fashion is a total mystery, even to those who are passionate about it. You watch just a minute of a fashion show and you’ll see things you can’t unsee

And don’t forget he took a swing at Seifert when he was thr 49ers head coach. Oh, and whizzed on a teammates car.

Charles was a great player but he was a terrible teammate.
