I think what some have eluded to is spot on. I think we like Dak, but don’t love Dak. And we want to pay him what we think he is worth. Unfortunately the market is in Dak’s favor so the game begins. I think he gets tagged. But it would be negligent to not have a backup plan in place. And that plan should be taking a serious look at Bridgewater. Let’s be serious. If we were completely sold on Dak the contract would be done.Dak or no Dak. Gotta have a fall back plan in place.

They're so confident in Prescott that they won't give the young "great" QB the contract he wants. Yet, they gave an aging and injury prone Romo a contract.

This says a lot more than any of the babble that comes out of Jerry and Stephen. They aren't confident in what they have in Prescott.

The Romo contract was stupid too.

QBs need to win a Super Bowl or be truly top 3 at their position before getting paid like it.

The Jones’s actions of not giving him a contract last year and now threatening to use the franchise tag are very different then the things they say publicly.

My hope is this thing gets messy.

Derek Carr just came off of one of his better years in recent memory without Cooper. It is what it is at this point. Anything you say on this site is going to get disagreed on unless it makes Dak look bad. Now do I think he elevated guys around him? No I don’t. But I dont think you can elevate already talented players. It’s a silly argument to me. Oh Aaron Rodgers elevates Davante Adams? So why couldn’t he elevate anyone else? Matt Ryan elevates Julio Jones? Calvin Ridley? Tom Brady elevates Edelman? It’s like we are giving the quarterback the credit when the receiver is the one who puts the hard work in and make their jobs easier.
You have your point here that's valid but we know Romo threw TO/Dez open. That's what's annoying in having this capitol devoted to the position on top of some late passes, etc. Cooper could be a 1,500 would be but would never know, we KNOW with ROMO he would tear it up with that receiver, etc. We have a barometer that may be not fair, but we all know what a franchise QB would do and it it's never Dak's style.

Jerrah should get the non-exclusive franchise tag on Prescott , and in the hold-out trade him for 2 first round picks . (Don't matter if they aren't top 10).

Then with those 3 first round picks, trade up for a franchise QB .

I am a BIG Dak fan, but I'd love to see us draft a QB in the first 2 rounds if we have to franchise him just to put the big ** back at him.

Cooper would’ve had 1500 yards if he would’ve showed up on the road like he did at home.

And how do we know what Romo would’ve done? When did he ever have 1500 yards with Dez or TO? Why are y’all creating a whole new narrative?

We think in our fanbase there is even 1 first in there. Realistically there is none, no one would give a first for Prescott and "We" know why wo acknowledging it. If Prescott was a free FA he would get his 5 year 100 deal from "maybe" the Dolphins. Who else? Everyone else would rather draft someone else.

Romo changes the play bf hand to ensure Dez/Amari are his first option and connects. You think Dak can do the same? Hasn;t yet. had jump balls with Dez, etc. Dez could work without him taking Dak's alpha bs. All Dez but needed a 1st to replace him...? He was more annoyed Dez called him out, Amari goes to the sidelines, etc. Only one guy left...that leader of men!

I think when McCarthy met with Jerry Jones, they discussed EVERYTHING, but particularly, the quarterback situation. I think they all know what they have in Dak - whether bus driver or franchise. And they're just letting the game play itself out.
I, personally, believe that the Jones aren't solid on Dak. If so, he would have been signed by now. I don't know if McCarthy is sold on Dak, but he wants to see what he can do with him for one season.
Furthermore, I would not be surprised to see the Cowboys take a quarterback in the first three rounds. That's my prediction. And if Tua or Herbert miraculously drop to 17, it would not surprise me in the least if they took either. McCarthy has worked enough around Aaron Rodgers and with the WCO to know he's going to need a starting quarterback able to run his system and a backup quarterback who can take over if the starter goes down.
McCarthy doesn't have to win now. As long as he puts his plan in motion like Andy Reid did. KC jumped from #27 to #10 to grab Mahomes, giving up, essentially, only a 1st and a 3rd, let Mahomes sit for a year and then, walla, the Chiefs will be perennial contenders for the next 10 years.
I believe McCarthy has a similar plan in mind. Everyone else is watching for DT and safeties. I'm watching the quarterback position because I think that's the key spot and that's where the action is going to be focused. I don't think McCarthy wants to mess this job up. So he's going to take care of that position and determine what he has at quarterback THIS YEAR!

There's a lot of wishful thinking in that post.

Nobody is trading 2 first rounders for Dak.

For 1.. He’s not worth it...

2.. There is a lot of similar QBs in FA that compare to Dak and the draft has 4 or 5 solid prospects.

How many 1500 yard receivers have we had under Romo?

Longterm yes. But who else is there if Dak isn’t in uniform week one ? Certainly not a rookie. I actually think Bridgewater would be a good fit in a McCarthy/Moore offense.
Should be interesting.

No , no .. If by any sort of miracle Dak is let go ; I see Moore getting fired . Its the only thing that makes sense. Why else keep Moore if not for Dak ?
