I disagree.. You can run the ball with cheap guys at a high level.

RB's are everywhere and volume is the most important thing when it comes to their success.
This was true for the early 2000s Broncos and absolutely nobody else.

You absolutely can not consistently run at a high level without a talented back. Every team who tries to do this has a crappy run game.

If Zeke shows up in shape to TC with the burst and acceleration he had in 2016 if fine with the contract. If he doesn't we're morons.

I guess I don't see what you're seeing then.

IF you give them volume they will produce.. That's what I see. It really doesn't matter who it is or what their situation is either. Just give them volume.

If Tony Pollard had Zeke like volume he would have Zeke like results.. It doesn't mean he is better then Zeke or as good either. It's just how that position works IMO.

I'm pretty sure the last 10 Superbowl champs had cheap RB's too.

I don't know what to say. We did the stupid thing and now we have to find a way to win by making stupid salary cap decisions.
Is it always your time of the month or do you just enjoy whining like a stuck pig?

Oh, another Zeke is fat take. Cool.

People are stupid. All fatty did was come 1 carry short of leading the league in carries again. He would have lead the league in rushing for 3 of his first 4 years w/o the phone suspension. And Gurley is made of paper mache and Zeke doesn't miss games. But its fun to say he's fat and lazy I guess.

I don't know if he is fat and Lazy but IMO his best year was 2016 and he looks noticeably bigger and when you pay him 15 mill a year you hate to see the lack of explosive plays.

There's actually been a ton of examples that proves this untrue.

I'm pro-Zeke, but he did come in fat and out of shape.

Volume and production (assume you mean yards) don't mean efficiency, they're pretty irrelevant. A good running back doesn't get you there alone, but you don't accomplish that without one.

I never would have drafted Zeke at 4, and I don't like paying big money to a RB. But it's not prohibitive, it's not out of line for the market, and it if they want to be a run-first team (which is outdated but they were under JG), you have to pay a RB.

You are dead wrong about Pollard producing like Zeke. There is just absolutely nothing to suggest any truth to that.

Does anyone expect our deal for Zeke to turn out any better?
Johnson and Gurley are older than Zeke and both have been severely injured in 2 out of the last 3 years.

Yeah I see the Zeke situation being 10x better (there' not even compareable).

Zeke has 2 or 3 seasons left of “prime” in him...

we essentially have him locked up for those years and can get out of his last year of the deal cheap if the drop off doesn’t warrant that last year

people act like fans have to contribute to some fund that goes to playing these players
Agreed. We only have 2 years left of high dollar guranteed.

We have a sturdy runningback locked under contract for basically age 25 and 26.

That's not a bad situation........

Pre fat extension he was already an inefficient player, who lacked motivation, didn't work hard in the offseason and was coddled in season.

Fans care about the salary cap and how we spend our resources towards it.

Some fans think it's stupid to pay a RB a bunch of money because production at that position is mostly decided by volume and RB's tend to get hurt.
Some fans think and talk like it's their salary cap

It’ll be better. Because Zeke is a tank. But not that much better.

It was a bad deal.

Zeke has never blown out his knee though, and he doesn’t have knee problems. They’re different situations  maybe the extra “fat” protects against injuries

How many top tier Rbs were in the super bowl this year? It is not an essential position and you don't have to pay that position to have an effective offense. You can go into the draft just about any year and find really good rbs in rounds 2-4.
It's amazing people will never acknowledge this point.
