What is the definition of "earning" it though? Statistics? He crushed those this year with almost 5k yards passing and plenty of points leading one of the top offenses in footall. Wins? He is among leaders since he entered the league (and that is a team stat). The problem is the numbers say pay the man, the situation says pay the man, so the question is how can they manage to afford to pay the man.
Good points.

I am reminded of when we signed Deion Sanders.

At the time FA had just started and I had little understanding of it.

Jerrah figured it out and we won a SB.

If he figures how to sign Dak and win a SB..

he will need to just retire.

He will never top that.

All I can quote is from the Facebook fan page...

#BreakingNews: Dak Prescott and Agent Todd France have issued a counter-offer. The latest demand from Dak Prescott is a four year deal, worth $160 million dollars, with unknown guarantees. Prescott's demands are still holding steady around $40 million per year.

Hell no. Tag him twice if you have to. Hes priced himself out of reality.

I DOUBT this is true btw. Lol

A fan post on a facebook page?

Ill tell you what..……...when its legitimately reported that Dak's camp wants 40 million per year, then I will join in the rants about being overpaid and greedy.

Lol I can't believe I responded to a fan post on Facebook.

So with Dak's new request of 40 million per year vs 2 million a year for Rush, what can that buy in FA?

2 top tier DT's and a safety?

1 top tier DT, safety and TE?

Basically 3 top tier players (~12.5 million per player).

What would your formula be?

Dak can carry this team on his back no problem!
We don't need a DT or Safety.
Heck lets give Prescott 50 million a year and cut the defense as there not needed with this stud QB of ours!!!

Ouch! No wonder that poll has favored not signing Dak for that kind of contract. Sigh... it's a tough call, but Jones and company should definitely be doing their due diligence in looking at what is being offered out there for him and planning to franchise him regardless if they can't find a middle ground.
When I voted it was on the 33/105 contract.........this greedy headcase just needs to go away.

couldn't beat scrubs when it mattered.
Neither could you with a fractured throwing shoulder, cut throwing index finger and sprained left wrist. Hopefully he'll sit out next time he's hurt so your buddy Rush can win the division for us. :lmao2:
Those scrubs were probably better than there starters which we beat 37-10. Shoot our entire team was on verge of collapsing , big reason why coaching staff got replaced
I loved Moore's 4th and goal call on the most important play of the game w/the division crown on the line by benching our 2 top WR's. I guess the Dak haters missed that call.

I wasn't saying Brady couldn't get you by a year or two, was just saying he is a fading player rather than one a team can build and grow with. You have a fair point about young QB's being affected by the circumstances they are drafted into, but keep in mind that Dak was drafted into a circumstance that resulted in a 4-12 record the year before because Romo went down, and when Romo went down in 2016 Dak took over and the team went 13-3. Obviously Dak doesn't get all the credit for that, but neither does any QB deserve all credit or blame for their teams.

No, I totally understand. Just trying to point out the Pros and Cons, like you. I don't think Brady is the future, were he to come here. Brady, or somebody like Brady, would represent the best chance going forward for the team to compete for a championship.

To your point about Romo and his replacements that would eventually go 4-12, the mistake we made there was the same mistake we've been making for years. We didn't address the QB issue, beyond the starter and when **** hit the fan, we were caught with our pants down. We've basically treated the QB position like this for 20 years. It's stupid but if you are forced to pay QBs record deals, with no regard for actual production, that's what you end up doing because the situation kinda dictates it. I get your point about QBs not deserving all of the blame or credit but as I discussed earlier with Idgit, it's a production thing. If QBs are going to force these kinds of deals, for no other reason then being next man up, then they are going to be held accountable and responsible for wins and loses. The salary prevents the front office from improving the team as much as it could if they weren't spending so much on the QB position. That's just a reality so any QB who takes the money is going to be held responsible, no matter what.

Now, if Dak were to allow for a lessor deal, provide the team with a bit more reasonable contract, that changes the dynamics of this discussion 100%. He is no longer viewed as the reason the team wins or loses primarily. That's the give and take of this right? So you gotta make a choice. Are you actually interested in winning or are you looking at this as a job?

If we are all being honest, a deal for Dak that probably puts him in a good light, looks like 165 for 5 years, 33 annually, 99 guaranteed, 66 fully guaranteed at signing. I mean, that's a good deal for anybody and it creates a perception. But you start talking about 35/40 for three years, that creates a very different perception and that's kinda where we are at, at this point.

The thing about the latter is he has veto power over any trade until the season starts because he does not have to sign the tag and then once he does sign the tag the other team has to know that he may or may not sign an extension with them. So again he basically is in a position where trading him is not really practical unless he is okay with it. So 33 then 39 then big money extension because he will be a young QB likely coming off putting up more big numbers in a market where players like that do not often hit free agency.

Well, if he doesn't sign, then he doesn't get credit for a season played and he finds himself right back where he is now at the start of the next season.
