i understand that. And Dak does have a lot of come from behind wins. So I guess that counts as crucial game winning situations. :D
May surprise you but I agree

I think it’s a waste of resources. It’s like when Calvin Ridley was available and we took LVE and got Gallup later on. Don’t pass up defensive line for a position we are good at. Too many resources used on receiver at that point unless you want to let Gallup to.
Agree, The first 3 picks need to be defensive players. This is such a deep draft for receivers, you can get quality in the late rounds. We have two 1000 yard receivers, a speed tight end and two running backs that can catch the ball. We have plenty of weapons.

BPA is a good strat for a rebuilding team, but this isn't a rebuilding team. This is a stacked offense already with GIANT HUGE ENORMOUS GAPING holes on defense.
BPA is a terrible strategy, if that's all you're going by. No team in it's right mind would use strictly BPA.

As you know NFL always adjust, and that will be the case for this offense if they don’t add another deep threat to the unit.

I believe this draft is the perfect place to pickup a speedy WR that can play the slot and go out the deep to take the safeties away from Amari and & Zeke ( similar role Ted Ginn played for Panthers and Saints)

Either you get a top tier drop down to 17 or picking up one up in the mid rounds the personnel is going to be there to get scooped up!

It will also make your franchise QB very happy and not mid OTAs or training camp.

Huggins comes to mind

I am up way too early this morning.

Can't sleep.

So let's see what's up with this.

I am pretty concerned about losing Cobb and Witten.

Some say it was time to move on from Witten and get an upgrade.

Some say Cobb was merely a replaceable cog in the offensive machine.

Not so fast.

Firstly, we are talking about Dak as the QB here. He is not Mahomes. Accuracy is not his passport.

Secondly,, our team is now going to have to re-,establish its offensive identity with Beard gone and all the coaching changes.

This team MUST bring in a WR to be added to our mix to help the starters. I clearly sense a falloff coming at receiver.

Some say we have guys already on the roster who should play. That drafting is a waste of time and resources.

Nope...like you say..find one and get him on the field.

In addition to your wants with speed being primary..

I want a guy who is quick. I want one who is not afraid to return punts and KOs, too.

We are needing that every time we touch the ball, there be urgency.

This is a mindset and a 'want to'. It's an intangible not a definable skill set.

So put that in your pipe and let me know.

Imo they need a te and a wr or 2 wrs. They are prolly gonna use pollard as the 4th wr but i see alot less te on passing downs and more dual rb and slot wr formations under Mccarthy

Harrison Bryant, Florida Atlantic (SR, 6'5", 243 pounds)

The 2019 John Mackey Award recipient as the nation’s top tight end, Bryant had 65 catches for 1,004 yards (15.44 Y/R) and seven touchdowns in his final season. Bryant's combination of athleticism, route-running and ball skills should allow him to become a high-volume target in the passing game at the next level. Due to his development as a blocker during his time at FAU, however, he’s one of the more versatile and well-rounded prospects at the position.

I still like this candidate at tight end.

These are my own candidates for the first Dallas pick at 17:

K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU
Javon Kinlaw, IDL, South Carolina
Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
Henry Ruggs, WR, Alabama

...and that is my complete list.

Gallup and Cooper have enough speed on the outside to be vertical threats. Plenty of evidence of that over these past two seasons. Dak needs a guy in the slot who can create separation quickly and make contested catches in traffic over the middle.

haven’t done any homework on this year’s wr prospects, but any guy who fits that criteria is who I’d be pounding the table for, regardless of 40 time.

BPA is a concept not a simple thing.

DAL rates guys in blocks/groups.
R1, R1/2, R2 et al.

Within those groups they stack based upon need and positional fit.

Then after all that rack and stack is done they let coaches weigh in.
This can be an issue... or salvation.
We passed on Sharif Floyd here (trading down for an All Pro Center and we passed on TJ Watt "here" drafting a SDE when we had a SDE developing into a an All Pro.

No system is 100% but you can't draft based purely on need nor can you simply take highest rated guy lest your team would end up with 12 WR or 3 kickers.

I'd rather not fetishize straight-line speed and 40 times at the expense of great route-running.

We could've just kept Tavon Austin if that's how low we're setting the bar for how complete a receiver needs to be to have any business being a slot WR in today's NFL (which is practically a major starting role on the offense).

A wide out at 17 would be an extremely poor use of resources.
No matter who is there.

You just paid your long term WR1 20m a year.
You have a WR2 who is ascending to Pro Bowl caliber.

Adding WR3 in round 1 would be a lot like ATL adding Ridley and we have seen how many games they have won since doing so.

With the insane depth of this class you can get a guy who's 90% of the player in round 3 or 4.
Perfectly put. That’s my thought as well. Give me defense.

Rice ran a 4.71. the greatest of all time, arguably.

Coop is smooth in and out of routes........ reminds me of Rice.

I'll take that every day and twice on Sundays.......pun intended.

Nope. Coaching is........they were at each other's throats with different agendas. Contracts speak volumes at the coaching level too.
