Its much more advantageous in todays game, if you have the right type of players and coaching, to be able to flex.
Takes a lot of preparation, that's always the issue,, its about an expanded defensive play book, job assignment.
Being able to run a hybrid scheme I believe is the direction, the thought process of this current staff, just not sure it can be installed in one off season/training camp.
And that was the problem with Garrett. He didn't like things to be too complex. It may take three years for these guys to get the various schemes down. But we'll be a better team after they do.

Offense:
1. Pro bowl Center (I know some fans don't agree with this one)
2. TE
3. WR
4. backup QB

Defense:
1. Corner
2a. Safety
2b. DL
Agreed on all. Now which do you feel should be addressed in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...rounds?

Which positions are of greater need?

I'm thinking something else as far as what they think of Murray....speaking of versatility, he can play all 3 spots...or all 4 I should say.

Its entirely possible the new staff has looked at #54 on film and isnt impressed w the ballerina acts, or the curious angles, or maybe just his act overall.

I dont know that his best position is MLB in a 43.
I’m with you. I like Murray and think they like him a lot. I know he’s not the most well like pick on here but he could help us overall. Or he’ll trade up for Simmons guy plays multiple positions lol

Maybe true, and simplification can often be a misconstrued term.
You do not have to have a full understanding of every aspect of the 4-3 scheme, and neither the 3-4 scheme.
Its the roster that dictates, its the players on that roster and their individual skill sets that dictate.
IDK if MM can be that HC that I have been waiting for so very long, maybe Im putting too much hope in a new staffs ability to recognize the talent that is actually already here and in place.
I really believe and have stated in this forum several times that MM had no problem taking this gig immediately, it was easy, he probably hung up the phone and laughed and called his boys and said,, lets roll.
I may be a fool, but I believe that transaction happened rather perfectly, rather quickly, for a reason,, I bet MM recognized under utilized talent being wasted on this roster.

Again you run from the question,, why do your fear exposing your opinion?
I do agree that he's been answering questions with questions through this "debate".

I believe that to be such a complex subject, your asking me to give you that answer, I know I cant, maybe others that think they can in this forum will do so, but they will fail.
Nobody here can answer that question.
The answer might be so very simple that Garrett didn't want off side penalties being called,, a poorly coached team likes to simplify.
If you don't have the players that can understand and absorb a more complex system, you get rid of them, like Bill.

Just curious, when you guys are arguing about the need at DE, are you referring to a traditional DE, like DLaw or a SAM/DPR, EDGE guy?

There is going to be a distinction in this defense.

You just draft pass rushers.. they are coveted.
If you pass on them, you will regret it.
If you have a few of them, you will soon discover how bad *** your defense can be.

Rules are rules. The commish only has 60 days to make his decision. Both players filed their requests in March so the decision must be made by mid-May.

Expect Goody to announce in Mid May:
“Yes to Gregory, No to Smith”
or
“No to both!”

He’s talking about Gregory and Aldon Smith like he’s counting on them, yet neither have been reinstated.

How much you wanna better he's damn near 100% confident they will be. What's just as interesting is he has no idea what to expect yet he's speaking as if they'll hit the ground running.

He probably figures they will be reinstated but neither has played in a long time especially Smith. If you get anything out of either one of them it will be a bonus but I wouldn’t be counting on them.

1)We didn’t have Fred last year, and only PART of Fred the year before, so how much of a shock will it really be?

2)Jarwin will catch, Bell will block

3)Cooper, Gallup, Devin Smith, a FA and/or a draft pick, Bryant, Johnson, Lenoir, Brown and whoever else can comprise a pretty damn good group.

Defensively, I’m intrigued by our potential. If Gregory and Smith come back, added to Poe, McCoy and most likely a draft pick or two, and our DL is significantly better. Add to our strong LB corps, and we’ve got a top ten front seven, which really helps our secondary. Speaking of which, we lost Jones, but gained Clinton-Dix, and we’ll probably add a draft pick or two. With a change of scheme and coaching, I expect improvement, but I’m “glass half full”.

agree 100% but a pretty strong PUBLIC statement never the less, especially considering both player's current status and history.
