I can hear your heart breaking.

“Dak has played really well,” Dalton said, via Jon Machota. “I knew the situation I was coming into. . . . Dak is the starter on this team. If for some reason he was to go down, I will be able to step in and help this team.”

Dalton's own words. Hmmm.
Yeah but, but......

If you actually take the time to watch the video the man has a point. It IS odd he'd sign here for 3 million.

It's happening, bros.

this is the same guy who said he has it from inside sources, that Aikman was gay (not that there is anything wrong with it)..

this guy lives off of cowboys controversies.....he is trying to create another one so he stays relevant...however, Dak detractors will point to him as the source

The Difference, you speak of is Andy making 3 mil base salary and the Messiah demanding 35-40 million a year. If Andy craps the bed and fails to score more than 10 points in 3 games as a starter next year, he will be under just as much scrutiny as Dakota was. Its called delivering the goods...…..and not just against the worst defenses the NFL had to offer.

Conspiracy and baiting dispelled.
Sorry, doesn't explain the same hateful behavior demonstrated by the same posters when "the Messiah" was only making $465K a year and not demanding "35-40 million a year". If scoring more than 10 points is a sticking point for you, your boy Dalton is 0-4 in the playoffs with his offense scoring no more than 10 points in either of the 4 games.

The hypocrisy going on right now is undeniable at this point. The motivation for the hypocrisy is the only thing in question, but money isn't it.

That would be a win for Dallas if Dak holds out and Dalton doesnt play well. Then maybe Dallas is in the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. And if Dalton plays well thats a win because it proves what Jerry was thinking that this team is built to be QB friendly. Dak wants the world with a fence around it making him too greedy.
LOL. Trevor Lawrence is going #1 overall next year. The Cowboys would literally have to lose every game to secure that #1 overall pick next year, which isn't happening even if only Dalton plays. Cowboys would likely end up with 6 or 7 wins and pick somewhere between #10-15th pick with no chance at Lawrence. With Dak, this team is easily a 9+ win team and in the playoffs in 2020. With Dalton, maybe 8 wins at the most but still out of the playoffs.

Careful what you ask for.

My first reaction to this is if Jones did actually tell Dalton he would be the starter then Dalton's agent would have said that you need to multiply that offer by no less than 5 times, closer to 7 and then lets talk.

No. Dalton sees this as a chance to stay in Texas and not move his family. He has played many years and has plenty of money. It’s also a good chance to be on a winning team and make his stock go up whether he plays a lot or not. He wants to kick start his career. If he doesn’t get many offers next year he can stay put and JJ will rehire him as backup.

That Skip Bayless sure says a lot of things. It’s almost like he gets paid to talk.

One day he's an idiot here, the next day his word is gospel. It depends on who you ask. :muttley:

exactly. its a weird year, late in the FA season. draft is done. so which team wants to sign a 31 year old QB to start for them, specially if they would have a chance to get Lawrence in next year's draft....so he plays back up for a year and assess the market, which is really lite in quality FA QBs. plus he can hedge his bets that if Dak doesn't sign, would the cowboys franchise him for another year. so maybe they keep him....

It is already beginning.
His comments about Dak are simply easing the awkwardness of walking into a new locker-room, & interacting with new teammates.

After signing with Dallas, Dalton --"I believe I'm a starter".

"Jerry Jones has convinced Andy Dalton he'll start over Dak Prescott"

If this is true, did Jerry run this by McCarthy first, or is Jerry being "Jerry" and meddling in his coach's business?

I don't think this conversation happen, because generally, I don't believe in "conspiracy" theory.

Personally, I think Dalton chose Dallas because he actually thinks he can beat out Dak.............and he has a home in the Dallas area.

Dak overplayed his contract for sure. and like I said its only hypocrisy if the same people critiquing Dakota fail to hold the same standard for Dalton. I for one will be just as critical of him as I was of the Messiah.

If Dalton meets or exceeds Raynes output and performance, will you acknowledge it?

You were one of those toilet paper hoarders, weren't you? :D

Dalton started out his career much like Dak has, very comparable stats. The second half of his career has not gone so well for him. :(

As for Dak, he is worth whatever someone is willing to offer him. We have seen reports he has turned down offers in excess of $30M and the franchise tag that Jerry slapped on Dak is worth $31M. So the answer to your question is yes, he is worth it.

So for whatever reason, you have lost faith in Dak. You express this by saying you would not mind if his tag was rescinded. Cut bait with Dak in favor of turning the keys over to a QB that has been terrible of late. Does that sound like the prudent thing to do? I would suggest we at least find out what kind of QB Dalton is today before putting all our eggs in his basket. I wouldn't give up on Dak just yet. We've waited this long, July 15 is not that much farther away. I'm willing to give him that much time to make a decision. If he wants to hold out beyond then, then we can reconsider pulling that tag.

I'm not giving up on Dak. I'm just looking at this as if it were a computer sim. Not considering feelings. Is the difference between the two quarterbacks worth the cost? Neither is elite. I don't think Dalton changed as a QB, I think the circumstances around him changed. Switch out Dalton for Dak last season, am I to believe Dak still throws for all those yards? Not a chance. I've seen circumstances change a lot of QB careers. They didn't all of a sudden get better. Foles the most recent in Philly, And Jim Plunket way back in the early 80s. He couldn't even get a starting job and still won two super bowls as a backup.

I'm not giving up on Dak. I don't think Dalton is the better QB right now. I'm just not sure the difference is worth the cost. Do I want a nice bacon cheeseburger for 10 bucks? Or a steak for 120 bucks?
