I would really like to know what the actual offer and actual counter is. That would let us know a lot. Are they 5 million or more per year. We were told they had a deal pretty much done last year and after the 3rd game Daks agent pulled the plug and asked for way more. I think it angered JJ and he made a 36 a year offer out there and shut it down..

This is the biggest victory we've had in 20 years, dude would have absolutely crippled us for half a decade. You don't play average players elite money, ESPECIALLY at the QB position.

His rookie season they had his attempts limited while Zeke tore up the league.
Since then its all been downhill.
Watching Dak play QB is an excruciating experience and you cringe once we get into the Red-Zone as we all know what's coming....FIELD GOAL.

Fingers crossed the front office don't do anything stupid over the next day. Then worst case scenario it's only one more season wasted down the shoot with a good roster.

and ? not new news they are both dug in and i agree with FO..Dak and his agents want FA, they will get NON EX Tag or TT next year and the DC would be smart to get all they can in a trade next off season.. Daks wants money hope and and his next team are very happy...lol

nopw lets focus on 2020 Offense is loaded , new staff , if Dak is looking to put on a show for his next team let savor a deep run this year..

Nah no worries they do see Dak as the future anymore.
That ship has sailed and the new solution (Dalton) Captain is waiting in the wings....

Keep snorting.......

Staubach's completion percentage is even lower at 57%. Are you trying to claim Dak is a better QB because he has a higher completion percentage? The NFL is different now than it was then. Nowadays if a CB looks at a WR wrong they get a flag. Keep posting your YouTube clip though.

That does actually make sense. Jerry likes to pay guys for putting in a shift. Nobody disagrees that Prescott has been underpaid over the past four seasons. So paying him on the tag is like back pay. We couldn't really use the money to a great extent now for this season any way and he plays out one more year as a last hurrah.

Although I genuinely think Dalton has a fair shake of taking over at some point during the season.

So if there's no long term deal for Prescott, he gets his back pay, we get to offload him after the season. Prescott will earn more money elsewhere at a desperate franchise and we draft a QB who will fully utilise this explosive offense. Everyone wins.

I'm good with that.
You think drafting a QB that will full utilize this ofence will be that easy? I don’t.

To fully utilise this offense. Yes I do think it would be far easier than some fear plus the QB would be on a rookie contract.

we're going to lose Dak and have nothing at QB and will waste having Cooper, Gallup, and Lamb together.
better make some noise this season. all we've got at this point.

So are you assuming we would be that bad that we could get a top draft pick or we could find a QB in the mittle to late rounds or we give up several draft piks to move up?

You also realize Jerry wanted Paxton Lynch insdead of Dak and even top projected QB’s are often busts or don’t live up to the hype?

Also, I take it you think this QB will come in as a rookey and immediately adapt to the NFL? We’ll have a lot of players getting close to retirement or contract extentsions by that point.

Just wondering, if we let Dak go after 2020 season and he signed a big money deal ($35m/season) with another team, what comp picks would we get? Can you even get comp picks after franchising a player for 1 year? Anyone know?

...do you know how many good QBs there are in the league? finding one is extremely difficult.
using a 1st round pick on one is far from any sort of guarantee of even being average.
chances are you miss a few times before finding a guy.
we're in for years of misery.

Charean Williams is a reliable reporter.

Sounds like the Cowboys made up their mind on this a long time ago.
Let him play on the tag, its his choice. Don't we love people who bet on themselves.
If we win the SB, I am sure Jerry will be happy to pay him, if he doesn't I am sure there are still ways for him to get paid.
The whole offseason has been dominated by the wrong issue for Dallas.
How is the virus going to impact team from being prepared to start the season.
This team should have the aspiration for a deep playoff run or more.
Mahomes of all players didnt want to risk the cap going down, but Dak has chosen not to . Maybe it is some level of imposter syndrome.

We could have drafted Hurts, Love or Fromm in the QB draft class just gone. But chances are a few quarterbacks will increase their stock before the 2021 draft like Burrow just did.

Guys like Martin and Smith should have at least 3 years left. Zeke is tied in for at least two more seasons. Just signed Cooper long term. Lamb is on a rookie contract.

The ceiling isn't very high with Prescott and he was most productive during his rookie season. I'm hoping that the front office have concluded their negotiations with Prescott and his representative and are making alternative longer term plans.
