I'm thinking if he gets a bad injury this season (assuming there is one) it'll probably drop his value, at least. If he finishes the season, regardless of being injured early, and plays well, it may not affect his pocket. But basically, I think the only way this works in his favor is if he lights it up this season, and shows that he can lead the team to a deep playoff run.
Ok yeah if he gets a Alex Smith injury he's SCREWED. I agree there. Anything short of that though? ACL injury? I think they franchise him at the VERY LEAST.

My two, useless cents on this. We all know the Cowboys leak things to make themselves look better. So Dak's camp could be trying to get in front of this by making it sound like the Cowboys dragged their feet and didn't give him a fair offer that he would have accepted until it was too late. So its their fault, not his.

They are just trying to get in front of the Jones boys leaking the details themselves.

I think this leaked BS story of a last minute attempt is an effort to make both sides look better. Dallas wants people to believe they are sold on him...Dak's side doesn't want him to appear too greedy. It's painfully transparent though...they've only been talking about a deal for well over a year.

Maybe, depending on how it heals. Some guys are never the same, and considering Dak's legs should be one of his advantages, he needs them to be perfectly fine.

Bs.

He doesn't want to be here. He wants money and that is it. Doesn't care where he plays.
I would say that this is true for virtually every player in the NFL.

Unlike fans, players cannot play favorites and understand that the NFL is a business and a job.

So let's say you work at Company A and you really like it there and have no plans to leave. Then one day, you find out that you can get a multiple x pay raise without losing any benefits, staying in the same industry, and doing the same amount/type of work by just moving to Company B.

Does that mean you never wanted to stay with Company A?
Do you not have any desire to make the most money you possibly can?
Do you REALLY care about where you work if pay, benefits, company mission are all virtually identical?

I think the answers to the 3 questions above would all be "no". But what do I know?

Using the Tag is a good strategy.

Let’s be real. Most Dallas QBs start for 8-9 years. Aikman did 160+ starts.

Jerry/Stephen doesn’t want us to be in cap trouble with Dak.

Do the tag. Maybe again next year too.

If there is a decline/injury then we move on.

This is why fans of other teams hate us as fans...
The statement of Dak not wanting to play here or he doesn't care where he plays is 100% opinion, not fact. I don't believe anyone on this board has actually sat down with Mr. Prescott and asked why he is playing on a tag tender or why he didn't take the deal. Speculation on the fans part with the exception of what is written in news articles.

LIke they say, "put up or shut up". The ball is in Dak's court. Man, I gotta stop with the cliche's. :)
