stop trying to trade away our weapons.
WRx3 is the strength of this team.
our back-up QB with a oline held together by duct tape needs ALL HANDS ON DECK.
go win the east.

I would sign Gallup this off season to a decent contract and trade Cooper. Cooper is a great route runner but Gallup and now Lamb are just beast going after the ball, that is not Cooper's game.

Edit: this is the off season, not during the season. We need all the help we can get right now.

Well, we have trade Cooper threads weekly - which is impossible.

Plus, Cooper is a better player while having a lower market value....

If we're trading one of our WRs, the answer is Gallup.
I understand what you're saying/thinking. But I doubt that's even a topic in Dallas right now.

Maybe sometime in the near future when they're ready to sign Dak & need the money.

Philly, is the answer.

They need a deep threat WR.

Gallup is quickly emerging as the best in the game.

A 3rd? His contract and play on the field would mean at absolute minimum you're getting a 2nd.... I wouldn't pull the trigger for a 2nd....

There is a team willing to pay a 1st... It's the Eagles... a few others might consider it too.
Eagles aren't trading a 1st for Gallup. Eagles are on the verge of a top 10 pick in the draft. Why would they do that?

Cooper is a finesse WR.

Gallup is a deep threat.

Cooper has almost no market value bc of his contract; Gallup is the Cowboy with the highest trade value.

i understand the upcoming contract quandary, but now is not the time.

We have a real chance at winning the division... I know some here think it's a fruitless effort, but I don't care. As a fan, I want to see us win.

They need a legit #1 WR, and none of Gallup's caliber are clearly available in the draft....

Same reason we traded for Cooper.

Eagles could get a better WR for a 1st easily. You are drastically overestimating the value of the WR market right now. It is VERY saturated. Unless you are Hill, Thomas, Julio, or Hopkins you are not worth a 1st to anyone. ODB probably could be had for a 2nd or 3rd easily and I think he is better than Gallop easily (certainly more proven). Instead of trading a 1st for a player who they would have for 1.5 years they can draft one of the 7 first round level WRs (it might very well go up) when they pick and just have him locked in for 5.

Basically take Cooper's contract out of the equation, because it was a massive outlier, and you can see how every other team in the NFL was really not valuing WRs too highly unless they were one of the 4 elite ones.

For the next few years.......Lawrence, Jaylon and Amari aren't going anywhere. Zeke as well. The salary cap hit will be to extreme. They are Cowboys.

Well, frankly, no player has higher trade value on this roster than Gallup right now.

Sure, but why trade a talent like that just to weaken the team. Also we have too small of a sample size to know what removing Gallup would do to the offense. Who do you envision replaces Gallup?

Wilson.

Do you think we're winning it all this year?

If not, we can trade Gallup for a #1 now.

We can't afford to keep Gallup beyond next season.

Cooper was a Pro Bowler as a rookie.......he's been one every year since one year. Which btw, no one was willing to trade a 1st rounder for him but the Cowboys. I like Gallup but his value right now is nowhere near worthy of a 1st rounder or even a 2nd rounder. He's not of the caliber of Diggs or Hopkins.

I firmly disagree there.

Gallup was a 3rd round pick. He's proven to be possibly the best WR out of his class. If you redo the draft today, Gallup goes top 10.

He is worth a first. Minimum.

This is wishful thinking. Eagles suck right now they aren't trading their 1st round pick. No team that's bad is trading a 1st round pick for a wide receiver.

We literally did it for Cooper and it turned out to be a great trade.

I think we would still be hit with about $20mn in cap hit next year...

and teams have traded a 2nd round pick to clear up $15mn of cap space (Osweiler trade to Browns)...

Gallup's contract makes him way more valuable in a trade than Cooper.
This indicates the Cowboys would only be stuck with the unpaid bonus money ($8 million), and that all other money would transfer to the new team)

https://overthecap.com/a-guide-to-the-nfl-salary-cap/

Also, unlike signing bonuses, there is no dead money that remains on your team if you trade a player. In a trade in the NFL all signing bonus money accelerates onto the cap of the team trading the player, just like as if the player was cut. The guaranteed salary simply transfers to the new team.

i cannot imagine the cowboys and eagles helping eachother unless one thought they were hornswoggling the other team. and as much as i hate to say it, the eagles played pretty well against the steelers yesterday.
