The defense of Jaylon is that he is pretty far down the list of our defensive problems.

The OP is welcome to block me at any time, but that has always been true.
Other than maybe Xavier Woods, name one defensive player who is more of a liability than Jaylon. I’m genuinely curious to see your “list”

Well, top 10 on the defensive side of the ball!

The personnel are built for LVE and Jaylon to be run and hit guys, if the DL is getting blown up and those two (any two Will types, really) have to take on OL off the line of scrimmage the defense will get killed. On one of the big trap runs Sean Lee was on the field, IMO its really about the DL and the lack of execution.

But having horrible safety play compounds the issue. Then playing Lamar Jackson compounds that.....

I could go on but I won't.
Actually yeah. I cant argue that.

I'm genuinely curious why you think Darian Thompson belongs on the playing field.

*jaylon smith with the tackle!*

*the crowd is going wild! it is crazy in here!*

jaylon get up, rip his helmet off, start dancing and yelling with tears in his eyes

*and that 78 yard rush on 4th and 50 will ice the game for the giants! the final score is new york 56, cowboys 3*

Yes Jaylon sucks but our DTs are worthless. Until we beef up the DT position talent at LB and DE does not matter. I have no faith in the FO to do this. We have at least 2 more seasons of abysmal defense.

He's not good in the role they're using him in.

He might not be good at all anymore, perhaps 2018 was a mirage.

However, I think he might be ok if you get him in a role where the play is always 100% in front of him. Pass rushing seems to be what he's excelled at from the LB position.

Maybe Randy White him and convert him from LB to End.

I swear, if one person defends this turd by giving me his total tackle stats, you’re getting instantly blocked by me because you’re obviously delusional and I don’t need that in my life.

Is any guy more worthless as a player? Throw in the ungodly amount of money he makes, and Jaylon Smith is without a doubt, the most embarrassing player on the team.

Followed closely by Xavier “can’t give it my all” Woods.
Jaylon's suckage has no limits..I've been watching football for 50 yrs but I have to say he's in the top 5 worst Lbs I've ever seen, totally brutal and williams on offense is no better.

theyres a reason Jerry signs guys like jaylon to extensions. He doesn’t want them to get away and go to another team and play well. Cause it would highlight just how poorly run his own organization is.

jaylon has been bad I agree... but I’d be interested to see him on a team like the ravens...Steelers or pats. An organization that doesn’t have a clown show culture.... a team that could get the most out of talent. He’d prob end up a pro bowler again.

He did stop Lamar once and then exchanged pleasantries after, lol.

Jaylon just often takes bad angles and doesn't have the speed to make up for it. As I've said before put him at strong side LB and play him closer to the line.

LVE and Jaylon Smith look like they are just lumbering around out there. neither has a clue as to what their responsibility is.
Clueless and lumbering. Bad traits for a LB.

This team does not have one LB who is not absolute trash.

The standard refrain of football dunces is to point to tackle totals or make the overgeneralized claim that “our DTs aren’t doing their jobs so Jaylon can’t do his job.”

Jaylon’s deficiencies are individually his own and cannot be legitimately placed at the feet of anyone else. He does not play with any anticipation aka “instincts”; he cannot get off a block to save his life; his recognition skills are abysmal; he lacks effort (as demonstrated by him loafing around again today); he’s an absolute waste when trying to tackle in space; he’s athletically limited (no fault of his own, but a reality nonetheless).

Seriously, what kind of simpleton actually thinks a linebacker is going to be left unprotected to “just run and make tackles?”

Beyond that, LVE isn’t without his warts either, but I actually see him making competent football plays on a more consistent basis than Jaylon.
