For all you guys that think he is marginal or sucks:

https://dailycaller.com/2020/09/29/matthew-stafford-detroit-lions-29-comebacks/

He's been in an organization that is so good that two of the greatest offensive players at their positions (Sanders and Johnson) in the past 30 years have retired prematurely. Yep... They were that good.

I'd sign Prescott and trade him and our #2 (#3 if I could get away with it) for Stafford and their #1. Fire away.

Neither QB is top ten at this point. Neither has made it to a championship game or the SB. Neither are worth the money they want and that is the rub. Fact, neither team is going to
get the picks they want for either guy. Rogers is worth picks if he leaves Green Bay. Watson is worth picks if he leaves Houston. Neither is likely to happen.
Why is Watson worth picks? He can't be top 10 because like you said he hadn't played in a championship game or SB so can't be top 10. Or is that just for Dak

12 NFL seasons, 3 playoff appearances, 0 playoff wins.

Oh, plus inferior stats compared to Dak across the board.

Don’t hurt yourself trying to understand this sport.
He likes guys like Dalton and Stafford who are some of the worst players ever in the playoffs over Dak who has played well in his 3 games including beating Wilson....a top 5 QB in the league

He's probably number 10 in my book but, also he's considerably better than Dak will ever be on his best day. Just sayin'.

DUMB IDEA. We do this, give up a premium pick, lose Dak...then in 2 years from now we also LOSE STAFFORD. He will be 34 and has had back issues..so easy pass.

I don't care who the QB is as long as we get to the SB

Rex Ryan suggests Matthew Stafford should go to Dallas

It was reported Saturday that the Detroit Lions and franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford are expected to part ways this offseason. Detroit will reportedly begin entertaining trade offers for the quarterback.

During ESPN’s Postseason NFL Countdown on Sunday, former coach and current analyst Rex Ryan was asked where he thought Stafford would end up in 2021. And Ryan’s prediction, if it were to come true, would send shockwaves throughout the league.

Ryan suggested that Stafford returning to his home state would make a lot of sense.

“Well I actually don’t believe this, but let’s hypothetically say the Cowboys blow it with Dak Prescott,” Ryan said. “This would be an amazing spot for him. You go back to your high school days, he returns home, he won a state championship at Highland Park right there in Texas. I think it would be a phenomenal spot. He’d be reunited with Kellen Moore, a former teammate. And look, if he goes there they would be the favorites to win the NFC East. I promise you they would be.”
I think Stafford may end up over valued in the trade market due to need across the NFL at the position. Even at 33, I think Detroit still gets a 1st for him

Stats-wise over the past few years, they're pretty much the same player. Toss out the high and the low for each. And it's a bunch of high 90s years. Dak gets more on the ground. Stafford probably has a worse team around him.
Stafford was a guy I was hoping we could land post Romo before Prescott. A concern I would have with him right now is when does he start to lose arm power. He is a gunslinger that wins with elite arm strength. If it falls off, you might start seeing a big dip in effectiveness

I think Rex should just stick to evaluating feet and not discuss football anymore. He doesn't offer much.

The Kellen Moore factor is interesting. MM isnt sold on Dak - hence why they went cool on the contract extension. A lot could depend on KMs view on which is the better QB, having worked with both.
People keep forgetting that Daks compound fracture is a worse injury than a torn ACL. He might not be the same. He has screws and at least one plate in his ankle. Especially for a QB who relies on his legs so much to get anything on the football.

Id stay away from Stafford because of back issues. I think if Dallas cant get Dak signed they could be looking to the draft along with re signing Dalton.
