That is bull. Detroit had good players. Not 3rd stringers.

Instead of hitting the hole or smashing the line like Emmitt did, he preferred cucaracha.

Detroit could be considered a contender one year the entire time he was on the team. Other than that they were a slightly below .500 team overall while he played for them.

I think Moore is part or biggest problem with the running game no matter who to.
Last season, with a healthy Dak, Dallas had the top ranked offense. Moore was not the problem. Defense was.

So, you're saying, if Dak returns Zeke will bounce back to being average. Until I see different, that is all I expect of the very highly overpaid youngster Zeke.

3 Reasons Ezekiel Elliott Will Bounce Back in 2021

matthewlenix_star-blog_3-reasons-ezekiel-elliott-will-bounce-back-in-2021-scaled.jpg

The 2020 season was a rough one for the Dallas Cowboys, and in particular for their top runner Ezekiel Elliott. His 979 yards were a career-low and it marked the first time he failed to reach 1,000 yards in a full season of action. He only had two 100-yard games, tied a career-high in fumbles (6), and his eight total touchdowns were the least he’s had in any season.

Elliott’s doubters now have plenty of ammunition to criticize the former two-time rushing champion. However, three factors could very well silence them and put Elliott’s name back at the top when people mention the best running backs in the NFL.
  • The return of Dak Prescott
  • A healthy offensive line
  • Rebuilding his reputation

I’m rooting for him. We need for him to be great.

Nice! except the only reason he should actually make a comeback it because he wants to. Oh and he got paid.

None of those are reasons to think Zeke will get better. His *numbers* may get better from 1 and 2, but neither of them make him better.
Nor does wanting to have a better reputation. How many NFL players want a *worse* reputation?

The "get better" argument is flawed because he does not need to .. He's fine.. aside from the ridiculous spate of fumbles early in the season which again as we observed over the last 10 games I believe he got that figured out. Zeke should have better numbers this season for no other reason than his line won't stink out loud for most of the season and he won't have to break tackles in the backfield on 30% of his carries. Just cut that in half and he gains another 200 yards doing exactly what he did last season. Oh and throw in that his team won't fall behind by 3 scores with quite the same regularity it did ..means he will more opportunities to wear defenses down and feast on them in the 4th quarter. He averaged 5.1 ypc in the 4th in 2020 but only got 53 4th quarter totes. Just for reference he had 69 4th quarter carries in 2017.. IN ONLY 10 GAMES. Blame falling behind.. Moore's play calling.. whatever you want to chalk it up to but this team refused to lean on its running game this year even when it was working. In the season finale it was pretty much a one score game the whole way.. Yet we threw it 47 times and ran it 27. I will repeat it until I'm blue in the face. If that's the style of offense they want to play it's fine.. They don't need a 90 million dollar running back to do it. If they are not going to use Zeke they SHOULD trade him yesterday. Period.

Ronnie has still to admit that ANYTHING is zeke’s fault. Nothing.

According to Ronnie, Wayne Gallman and Alfred Morris are better than Barkley because they had a higher ypc average than Barkley did last year behind a worse O line and a high ankle sprain yet both of them also had a higher ypc than zeke but zeke is still better than them

Hypocrite Ronnie will fall on the sword for zeke. Hara kiri.

Rebuilding his reputation? He is the first player to ever hold out with 2 years remaining on his contract.

I believe he will never be that back again and I believe he believes that more than I. That's why he did what he did when he did it. He knew the years of contact of being a power back and a contact back on plays when he didn't have the ball had taken their toll.

Elliott would tap out when he sensed his energy level to be the type back he is was running low because at 80%, he's barely a serviceable back, let alone an elite one. Those fumbles this year were happening as the 2nd through the 4th tackler would make contact and they had seen how he carried the ball once contact began.

He held out because he knew this would be the only time in his career that he could get the big bucks and he knew the QB, WR and some others would be coming up, he needed to strike while the cap was more forgiving. One thing we need to keep in mind about Elliott, he's very smart, he could have gotten academic scholarships as well as the athletic.

He can still be a top 10 RB, maybe even crack the top 5 but he will not be worth that contract, no RB is. There is no good reason to ever give a RB a 2nd contract. A player like Emmitt was the exception, not even close to the rule.

I saw an interview on a podcast, forgot who it was but he said pros have to fight for their love of the game. Zeke lost his fight obviously. Oh well

If I were a Cowboy and I needed some motivation to play better, all I'd have to do is go to this forum and read a couple of comments before game time.

That’s part of the problem with this country club culture, they need motivation.

You have a coach smashing fruit in front of grown men to try and motivate them, how lame is that? You have Jaylon saying “as long as the owner is happy, we’re happy”. Forget any self pride. You have guys doing whatever they want with no repercussions from the coach or Jerry. The Cowboys under Jerry Jones are a soft, unaccountable hot mess.

I truly wonder if they even have an interview process with potential draft picks and what kind of character issues it would take for Jerry to pass on a player, if there are any. I’m pretty sure Jerry would draft Stalin if he thought Stalin would help the team win, and a lot of fans would support him.

I’m not saying we need squeaky clean players but we don’t need distractions, headaches and divas which we have plenty of.

If he can stay healthy for the whole year, I like his chances of having a better season in 2021.
