Of course. However, that D is much harder to build w/ a cap strapping salary on your QB.
The only way to build the defense enough to make a difference next year is to have probably the best draft in our history this April and knock each pick out of the park. I'm not holding my breath that it will happen. Too many Tacos and LVEs to remind me how unrealistic our FO builds a good defense through the draft.

I think you guys are forgetting how strong Jerry and Stephen are locked in Dak's corner. I know many are thinking if they love him so much, why he still doesn't have his long-term deal. Well, it's not like they haven't tried. Remember they made a legit offer prior to the 2019 season but Dak turned it down coz he wanted to use the season to elevate his value a bit more. Bottom line, you don't pay someone $31 and 37M you don't like or wanna get rid of.

Not really. It’s easy to ignore all the downside that could have come with signing him early after the fact. It’s also possible Dak continued to develop *because* he had to continue to work for the big extension.

Too easy to just second guess.

Remember the years of “let him finish the deal to see what we have. It’ll be worth it in the end”

That stupid take we had to listen to for 2 seasons.

+100

There is cost to waiting. I never understood their argument in favor of it.

My gosh Jeff Saturday is an idiot.

“They aren’t a 6-10 football team with Dak Prescott on the field.”

We were a watermelon kick away from 0-4 you donut.

What are we with him? 7-9? 8-8?

Get out of here with this nonsense.. This overrating of Dak is part of the problem.

My opinion is last year was a total **** show- especially Defensively.

But. We were almost entirely unhealthy the entire season.

I don't think we will be as bad next season.

Why do the 49ers get a pass and we do not?
No. We will be markedly better next season. But we need help, definitely.

If Dak is QB and we make some smart decisions- this is a solid, capable team.

By smart decisions I mean revamp the entire DL and draft well lol.

If Dak is dealt and Wilson strolls in here- it's anyone's guess but I like our chances even more so, given the weapons at WR that underperformed last year at times.

A guy like Russ improves all aspects of your team immediately. See: Tampa Bay

If we pay Dak what he wants, it'll be a minimum of two more offseasons to get a team around him. Prolly 3.

The jokers running this organization couldn't build a defense when Dak was cheap. It's almost as if they're incompetent, or something.

Let's not forget the D was pretty darn good just 2 seasons ago. Who knew the bottom would fall out so quickly. That speaks to a complacent locker room and zero leadership.

Trash Jaylon now, and tell LVE we need more post haste or he can expect the same.

Can't blame the bum DT's for being the jags they are- but you can have hard conversations with Xavier Woods, Chido Awuzie, and Jourdan Lewis about their very imminent departures if they do not start playing the ball they are capable of.

A motivated Zeke & a consistent run game with Dak improves the offense.

Some people say Dak lost leverage - he's got all the leverage now. He gets what he wants, or plays on the tag for $37M then becomes a free agent next year.

It was always in Dak's power to wait out the tags until he reached free agency. He seems unwilling to factor the value of the Cowboy's brand into his contract demands. Jerry should find a QB who will.
