Elliott is seeing the field better

True, but Zeke was getting yards BEFORE their defense was tired, and most backs need holes to have consistent success.

IMHO, I much prefer Emmitt, or even guys like DeMarco Murray. Zeke looks dumb, up until this year he seemed to lack maturity, I don’t care for the nose ring or Sideshow Bob hairstyle, the embarrassing “Feed Me” crap, or the seemingly arrogant entitlement, but he seems improved from 2020. Add the healthy OL, Moore’s creative playcalling, and turnover-creating defense, and the difference is night and day! JMO.

Exactly. The fact he needs to wear down teams is a misnomer. And yah, he is like any other back and needs holes.

Whenever you see a strong running game, you're also seeing the results of an elite offensive line. Great admiration to the pass protection. Dak didn’t get sacked once in the game, & only had one quarterback hit according to the official NFL stats. That is amazing.

First of all every run is different, unless we can replay the down in 2016 we don't know if 2016 Zeke would have scored a td, or not.

Second, The DB that caught Zeke ran a 4.46 at the combine. Zeke ran the same time. So he's just as fast as Zeke, nothing Zeke can do about that.

And the DB had the angle on Zeke. Zeke's speed, or any loss of same, was not the reason he got caught...

You can talk 40 time as much as you choose to,.. but when it comes to play- speed and visible burst, i'll call it as i see it with players.

DeMarco Murray ran a blazing 4.41 at his NFL Combine time, yet for his career he was and has never been viewed and talked about
as a home run breakaway threat.

Give me the player that translate and plays to his good 40 time speed... or surprisingly plays beyond and faster than his supposed
average 40 time speed.
" Field -fast " as the term would call it. `

And i don't think you recall the 2016 Zeke who was out-running angles on big long runs .. ala the Cincy game where he burst into second level
and split two safeties who had initial angle on him. .all the way to home run pay dirt.

It's pretty easy to see the field better when your Oline is opening holes the size of the Milky Way....

Yep, that's a false narrative. He didn't have our line to run behind, be he ran behind some amazing lineman.

Even if he did have our line, his running style wouldn't have meshed as well with them.

Maybe it wasn't. But I remember that game in 1994 where he absolutely destroyed us for almost 200 yards on 40 carries. That was a 9-7 team. He was their entire offense and Dallas couldn't stop him. No chance this happens with any other RB.

Emmitt was our whole offense that night too.....our leading rusher AND receiver. And he even had a 41-yard run called back because of a penalty. But point taken.

Zeke's effort the past 2 games can be directly linked to Pollards breakout game in SD. He's looked like the guy from 2016-17 since that game.

Run blocking has been phenomenal, the 2 high safeties they have seen in the past few games helps too.

Ok I have to admit Elliott has me eating crow. I wanted to trade him away just a few weeks ago. Now he seems to be a very important cog in our defense.

I did mention that he seems to have lost his break away speed. I don't think that's the case. I think he has become a more patient blocker and waits for his blocks to happen. Then he picks his hole.

In 2016 he just runs straight in and looking for contact. He no longer is that Zeke.

He maybe a bit lighter than he ever was. But he seems more quicker than he ever was.
I think he was closing his eyes and got coached up.it’s a habit that can form and players not realize it. Previously Zeke was making initial hole but nothing after contact.

I think the main reason Zeke looks good is because his OL is blowing open holes the size of Mars. He does look quicker than we've seen, but have you seen the All-22 footage of his runs? Sheez.

Kellen is running him into favorable looks, and we've got 2 Hall of Famers who are just doing Hall of Fame stuff up front.

So actual numbers vs. the "eye test".

I'll stick with my numbers, just prefer facts over opinions where possible. And no, I don't recall Zeke outrunning players with angles, not to say it didn't happen sometimes, but trying to go back and see who the defensive player was, check what his 40 time was (if he was even at the combine) determine the actual angle, see what Zeke had to do, or not do, before the defender with the angle got near Zeke, and on and on isn't something anybody would probably do. I certainly won't, not worth it.

We'll just have to agree to disagree...

He is absolutely doing the things that we seen in his off-season workout videos. There are numerous times that he has used the “jump cut” that we seen him working on. He set the safety up with a fake to the right side then jumped cut back to the middle on that long run Sunday. Just a thing of beauty.

there's also a difference between angle at middle of the field and angle on the sideline. in any event he looked plenty fast.

How about he’s in better shape, he’s rededicated, and he’s doing better? How about he’s quicker and fumbling less? How about he’s seeing the field better BECAUSE the OL’s healthy for once?
He's a hater....for real. Don't waste your time
