Will the Regular Season be meaningful for you?

Sure. This regular season taught me the defense has moved up from the historically awful levels that were present with Mike Nolan. That is a fact. We have have the best team in the NFC East and only the Eagles are close right now.

I knew we were done this season after the Arizona game. Quickly losing faith in Cowboys leadership for next season. Not sure what it will take to turn this team into post season winners. Will continue to watch them with almost morbid interest.

I was not shocked that we lost the Broncos game…..but it was HOW we lost that game. No von Miller out and the offense still got their butts handed to them

so week after week we watched the defense stiffen and get turnovers and points….but the offense still sputtered. Sure they beat up on the Eagles backups but it was a meaningless game

I sincerely hoped the offense would have gotten their Mojo back after the Broncos game, but I just never saw it happen.

Oh yeah. What a bandwagon I’m on too.

Imagine calling any Cowboy fans a bandwagon fan after not winning squat in decades. Bandwagon fan of what? Losing and being disappointed? Are you high?
If that's all you got from Zman's post, you are truly a lost cause..

This regular season seemed extra long with the added game. If I could put the season on auto simulate to get to next year's playoffs I definitely would. I think I may just put the rest of this season on auto simulate too because I could care less who else wins.

That's how I'm feeling now I'm sure after the draft and by the summer that interest will return.

Funny about perspectives, before the season no one expected more than 9 wins and a third place finish in a weak division yet we played better than expected and won the division. Playoffs were a dream in August then a disappointment in January. We are only happy with a Super Bowl. I have seen every game since the very beginning and have always wanted to win each one. Personally I would rather have this season that last season anytime and yes I sincerely hope next year is better but will still support them each and every game.

Yup. Very bewildering to watch - so much promise but they couldn't sustain consistency in all the units at the same time.

It was good to see them rise above last year's dismal result. It not just Super Bowl or Bust that gets me. It's the lack of consistency and game planning that brings me down. If they lose the NFCCG and put up a good fight, I could appreciate their efforts. Just flat out not showing up for playoff games is beyond a lack of a SB.
Of course, I will support them and watch them.
But, good grief, Cowboys! Show up when it counts

Where are you guys at when it comes to caring about the regular season moving forward?

For me it’s just ruined. There is nothing we can really learn about this team that would give me any confidence headed into the playoffs.

If you want to get hyped by Dallas beating bad teams and brag about their stats then be my guest but unfortunately for the Cowboys they won’t get to play many bad playoff teams.

I think Jerry has to do something that will get fans at least interested in regular season football again and just a status quo off-season with no real acquisitions but rookies is not going to cut it.

He has to find a way to give fans hope and right now it looks like the plan is to do nothing and just line up and try the same thing.

But the regular season was meaningful. We learned a lot about this team before the playoffs began. We saw them get exposed at home against good teams. We saw this offense fall apart in the 2nd half of the season. We saw penalties ruin games. All of that came into play come playoff time. This was not a surprising outcome. I posted a thread after the Raiders game that this season was over. I voted in the poll posted we would lose this game.

It became obvious that they were not ready for the better teams after that one. Kansas City also.

But I thought the Eagles game was supposed to create winners mentality and give us momentum going into the playoffs.

The irony is that winning week 17 vs Philly's scrubs added a win and piled up Dak's stats (and even broke a record) but it probably made us exit the playoffs earlier.
I suspect Dallas would've beaten the spiraling Cardinals, instead of playing one of the hotter teams in the league.
Could've delayed our pain a week

9ers we’re the worst matchup for us in the NFC.

Glad we played those Eagles with Winners mentality and used that momentum against The 49ers.

I'm sure you feel this way now, but I 100% don't think you will come next fall.

But if you do...life is short...pick a different team or a different past-time. Jerry has no loyalty to you! The NFL cares only about sucking money from your wallet.

I never do.

This team has earned nothing. But just wait, if we make it next year you'll have the same ole' people saying " This is a different group. They can't be held responsible for past teams" blah blah blah.

If they don't want to be associated with past Cowboys teams then prove it on the field when it matters.

What's really frustrating is after week 6 or so everything you turned on said this team is different, most talented group since the 90s, we have something special brewing. I bet most ppl here bought into it, but I won't be fooled again, not with this group.

Okay, try this.....

Give me 5 plays from a single game in the regular season, any season, even this season. Now, if you were watching the team in the 90's or before, give me 5 plays from a playoff game of your choice.

Which one is easier for those who watched the Cowboys in the playoffs during the 20th century?

Nobody remembers regular season games with the exception of an extraordinary event most likely on Thanksgiving or December.

Regular seasons are qualifying matches.

It's not how you got there that will be remembered. It's what you did when you got there.

I’m sorry this team could go 14-3 and get a bye. I still wouldn’t trust them in the playoffs

This.

There is absolutely no reason not to expect an implosion each time the team qualifies for post season play.

There little to look forward to being a fan of this team. I'll just watch and hope for the best.

Any future excitement for a chance at a Super Bowl appearance was forever smashed by this year's flame out.

This team was capable of so much more but couldn't wait to go home for the off-season. They played with almost zero heart.

In fact: the playoff game was possibly the worst game the team played the entire season- including the Denver game.

They were nearly incompetent- especially on Offense. But the Defense offered up penalty after penalty on any down of import.

How is that possible?

So true. Imagine Cards fans. They started out as if they were going to be flawless only to sputter at the end.

San Fran looked dismal starting off 2-5 & got hot at the eight time. Still, Dallas would have beaten them, but 14 penalties for 89 yards forget about it. Gallimore cost Dallas 2 games while Zuerlein cost Dallas 3. Yet Dak gets blamed.

Meaningful, yes.

Positive, no. Meaningful and negative in that it emphasizes the collapse and Prescott’s weaknesses even more.

Some bought into all the way up until the 49ers sent us home.

I told them over and over and over.... Dak Prescott cannot be trusted to play well against good teams. You need your QB to play well in the playoffs if you want to beat 4 good teams in a row like we would have needed.

Some people have to learn the hard way though and some are in so deep that defending Dak means more than their creditability. Which is sad.
