Getting a good player but with a serious injury and in rehab. Probably had to go $10 + before FA starts to insure keeping him. And if AC is indeed gone then probably got to sign him and hope he recovers. To me it appears to be risky business and risky moves. Let us all hope it works out for MG and the team.

This would put him roughly about top 30 in terms of per year salary at the wr position.

In a few years that would seem lower, but it's a gamble considering he is coming off a serious injury and is a relatively unproven player.

But it's something this team would do if they like the guy.

$10 mill aint bad for a #2 WR, of course there is the injury issue however.

The decision to be made was do you keep Coop at $20 a yr or do you go with Gallup at $10 per yr?

Looks like we got the answer.

I don't understand this one. Gallup even when healthy feels like a replaceable guy via the draft. He's solid but coming off ACL is concerning for a guy that relies on his athleticism(50/50 jump balls) to make plays.

If Dallas has hope of signing Kearse and Gregory then resining Cooper is not an option. Cowboys could resign Cooper but we have holes that must be filled. I like Cooper but I understand you can't keep everyone. As for Gallup if this report in true then Dallas is getting him under the projected market value and it was also my understanding that there would be clauses in this deal to protect the Cowboys from injury.

nothing special with him. sheesh. he will be gone in 2 years with the excuses from jerry, "he can't catch those high wild balls dak throws anymore" we have to cut him.
I agree. I truly am not understanding the thinking here. This will be a huge blunder.

He's not even a decent route runner. Ceedee isn't scaring anyone. Gallup the same thing. Ced is good, but again, nuthin special. Im nt understanding the Amari smear job and why they feel the need 2 throw him under the bus like this. The local Dallas media..aka Mike Fisher is leading the charge. I don't get it. He's the 1 wr we have that strikes fear into defenses. He actually plays hurt, and he makes plays. He can't force Dak 2 target him btw. Thats not his fault. Mike Fisher called me out by name for telling him this during his live last night. Hes a sensative jerk.

This is a mistake. They would be better off restructuring Cooper and keeping him, but this front office did everything they could to slime him going out the door.
AMEN. I recall what we were BEFORE we traded for him. It was ugly. Now we smear him and run him out of town. The Dallas media make me ill. They kiss Jerrys arse, he tells them 2 jump and they ask him how high. Signing Gallup makes 0 sense when u look at his production when healthy and now we paying a guy coming off of a ACL? lmao..its insanity! He wont even be ready for camp!!! What are we doin guys?!

I like Gallup but I don't love giving an injured receiver a long term deal

Me either. And I'm a big Gallup fan. But the Cowboys put themselves in this situation because they're probably releasing Cooper. If they release Cooper, you really can't take a chance that a 3rd round pick might replace Gallup. Because I don't think the Cowboys have any intention on drafting a WR in the first 2 rounds. So they're pretty much forced to keep Gallup.

rumor is chris Godwin going to be tagged for 2nd year by bucs and that cap hit is 19.1 mil and HE like Gallup blew and acl last year..you truly think godwin is twice the WR Gallup is? not from what ive seen hes also been the benefactor of having Gronk, AB, and Mike Evans on the field with him..

10-12 mil is the going rate and very good one for Gallup sand way over the rate for Godwin that mistake i believe fans say the Cowboys FO are the only ones who do that,...acl are not career killers its really not going to effect him next season and going forward.

this kind of stuff is the problem
Yeah the injury clause saves money but you’re still without your #2 WR
Now you’re starting Turner LOL then you will be in here making excuses for Dak that he had no weapons

Better to restructure Cooper and let Gallup walk for a comp pick
We never learn

that is your opinion. I think we sign Cooper we lose a lot of other players and end up paying him a kings ransom at the tail end. If course you guys will bi#$t and moan that jerry can't manage the cap down the road when the bill come due but you guys moan regardless. Gallup is getting below market value is this is true and I do expect Dallas to pick up a WR in the process to fill in as a slot WR. We never learn? Again you are giving an opinion just like everyone else,

We have 3 more years before we have to resign Lamb.
That’s going to be fun in 3 years . Wonder if any core parts we have now will still be here like QB, RB, OL, coaching… not likely. Lol

The core parts most likely remaining would be GM, VP and maybe QB. If he’s not beat up by then .

The more I think about where we are in 3 years is truly an interesting thought .
