A stronger NFC East is good for the Cowboys

We can only hope that the other NFC East teams have improved. I think it will help the Cowboys change their mentality. The NFC East has been a virtual cakewalk for the Cowboys recently and it seemed to help give the team a sense that they were better than they really were. Each time they would win by double digits and the team seemed to get the big head. And then when they went against better teams, the Cowboys almost always got out played and out muscled.
Having tough division games should help in changing that mentality and help them better prepare for games against other top teams on their schedule.
Sounds good, are the Cowboys up for the challenge?

I wasn’t whining, as you usually crap on everything.
There it is again, it's like you can't help yourself. You keep personally attacking others. Weak stuff, dude, be better.

Yes, sir, you were whining. It's almost all you do. Take a step back and you can see it.

Divisional games are only a third of the season.

I think the 49ers in the 80's and the Patriots in the 21st century were okay with weak divisions.

There are plenty of other games in which the Cowboys will learn where they really stand.

what? I didn’t attack anyone, you and the other guy started in on me as usual.
You need to be better. But you can’t help yourself. Take. the step back yourself.

I will just put you back on ignore for awhile. Stop wasting my time. And others.
Don’t bother responding I will not see it. Unless you need to get your whining in.

Those wins amounted to nothing. You make too much of regular season success in my opinion as do most fans.

I have to agree. I'd rather be a serous contender as a wildcard than a division winner with little to no chance at reaching the Super Bowl.

NE cake walked through the AFC EAST for a decade without challenge. They won 11 AFC EAST titles in a row at one point from 2009-2019. And yet........

Gotta stop making excuses for this team.
The New England Patriots came close to winning the AFC East for nineteen seasons straight in the 21st century.
The team won 6 of 8 division titles from 2001 to 2008 - including 5 straight from 2003 -07.
That totals 17 times finishing first in the AFC East out of 19 seasons.
The two times the Pats didn’t get the title - they came in second to the winner with the same record - losing out on tiebreakers:
2002 - three-way tie with division winner Jets at 9-7, along with the Dolphins
2008 - two-way tie with division winner Dolphins at 11-5

I’ll take the cake walk. There are enough good teams elsewhere to get into form and a few “cake walk” games and comfortable NFC East win would allow us to rest players during the season.

And for the record I don’t think it will be a cake walk. We haven’t won in twice in a row for almost 20 years and there’s no certainty this year.

Maybe so.

But wait, let me find my Jerry and Steve "excuse for stinking up the place book".

Agree. Best thing for Cowboys’ fans would be for a very strong NFC East. Make winning the division actually mean something more than qualifying for the playoffs because your division opponents suck. It’s already easier than ever before just to make the playoffs.

Also it would pressure management to do more than tread water in the off-season to just give themselves a chance at the playoffs. Look what the AFC teams are doing just to give themselves a better chance at postseason and regular season success.

Makes it harder to get a good playoff seed, but gives us better draft picks.

Would help to take away Jerry's delusions that the Cowboys are a contender. For the last 5 years our record outside division has been bad. That's been papered over by boatloads of wins against the NFCE.

I hope the Cowboys are pushed real hard all season where they have to scratch and claw to make the playoffs. That’s the only way to get them from becoming complacent.

It's been such a cake walk that no team has been a repeat champion since 2005.

We have one good year when all the other teams are down and all of a sudden we're too dominate and soft because of it? lol
I agree with the headline of this thread though. Because of last year's divisional cake walk no one really knew how good the Cowboys were. Even the KC debacle wasn't enough to change course. Well ok, quite a few people were calling them out on these boards, including me. But we were outnumbered by the sunshine, rainbows n lollipops people.

So next season let's hope there won't be any easy (read wasted) games. And if they start 1-4 then that's where they belong.

I won't fall for another 10+ win season ever again. 17 more pre season games and then we'll see what happens in the play offs.

To make it short, I wouldn't mind a way stronger division at all. No more sugar coating in the standings.

It's simple, win the division and you're in the playoffs. Last season was a great example of exactly what we needed to do. We just need to go further once we're in.
But there's no reason why Dallas shouldn't be the favorite this coming season.

I don't subscribe to the pointless argument of it being a bad thing we won out in our division as if to say it's simply a weak division.

Washington - We beat them by 22 and 25 points. No team outside the division came close.
NYG - We beat them by 15 and 24 points. Rams & bears were close. Good company.
Philly - We beat them by 20 and 25. No team outside the division came close.
It's even simpler. Stop the run and w/ a decent O you'll win the division and compete for a super bowl.

BS
That is just fans frustrated opinions.

They do try to improve, just not always competent at it as they could / should be. But they do try, much to the haters dismay.
Yes, they try for good enough to promote.

The '09 draft is legendary. :lmao2: It even sucked for a special teams draft. We can't even do that right.
They thought they needed nothing and actually had the gall to call it a ST draft prior to it. Then, that "we like our guys" changed to "we don't like any of these guys and neither do other teams". The Home Depot draft.

I called that the "Butch and Sundance" draft because I kept asking "who the hell are those guys"?
