Yeah he's going to get a flag on every play. Cmon man stop with the nonsense. You are being extra nitpicky.

They are gonna target him like Connor Williams.

No other team had more than 10 penalties during the pre-season.

The penalties and rawness is why he wasn’t the starter. He’s physically ready. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Just don’t screw up his confidence and start him if he’s going to be a penalty machine because he’s not ready.

Tyler Smith is very much a work in progress. There were times when he looked lost out there, trying to figure out what to do. It'll take time but he has the potential to do quite well, once he figures things out. In the meantime, it'll take hard work and plenty of it. He'll have to concentrate on his techniques and hopefully, the rest of it will fall into place. I expect that patience will be required for a while yet, until the mental part comes along.

I was watching Smith quite a bit that play he took his man to the ground very nice . Did Josh Ball play decently ? I think Martin Smith McGovern and Farniok can cover the guard spot it’s left tackle with 77 I’m worried about .

Someone made the comment that LT may very well be the Cowboys choice in next April’s first round but that doesn’t help 2022 .

LT backup should have been picked before camp started. Now there is no one to sign.

Doesn't blaming the refs every week ever get old? I'm not trying to single you out. It's a recurring theme throughout this fan base. I'm done with it.

When the Cowboys were actually good enough the refs didn't matter. Be good enough. Stop blaming the refs. It's an easy excuse for bad football.
I would love to stop blaming refs but they won't give me a reason not to. Bad football or not.

On pace for 34 penalties for the year nice
We need to seriously minimize penalties no doubt, but this was the first game of pre-season with a bunch of 2nd and third stringers on both teams. I am not as worried at this juncture to the degree of projecting penalties for the year. But your point is well taken.

I hadn't seen any of the practice videos so this was my first look at him. He looks the part build wise. He is also very strong and moves very well for a guy that size. There is no doubt you can see the potential. He also needs a lot of work. There was a miscommunication with the center on 4th down where they allowed a guy to get right to the QB to destroy the fourth down play. I have no idea who was more in fault and it is silly to make the case here. Maybe the two holding penalties were questionable (although there was another play too where the LB go around him and the LB was for sure he was held too), but you can have the perfect game but if you have two penalties and a mental error that ends a drive that makes your performance and F in the regular season.

I am not sure if he is ready yet, but the Cowboys put them in a position that he really needs to play. So we could see the best and worst case scenarios of dominanting play but also really bad mistakes that just ends drives.

He was a holding machine in college. He has bad technique. He isn't going to change.
I can't agree with you more. It's all about bad technique. Things are moving so fast out there , that oftentimes, he doesn't have time to think, just like most high-level sports, it has to be muscle memory. He hasn't developed that yet, so it may take time. He'll be fine once he adjusts to the speed and power of the NFL and gets enough reps.

Here is a young man with all the tools.

Please provide him with a coach that can make him NFL ready.

Don't let his confidence be destroyed with penalties because we have a lack of good coaching

Tyler needs to stop trying to pancake his man every play. It's unnecessary and in real time it does look like he tackles when he doesn't. One of his penalties was called because of an unnecessary pancake. He needs to realize when his man has been blocked and is no longer a threat to the play. Credit his pit bull attitude, but let go and save it for the next play.

I could deal with our penalties in a much better fashion if the refs were calling them both ways. I saw 4-5 flagrent holds by the Broncos that were not called, right in front of the refs.

If you're going to call a tight game with ticky tack fouls you can't ignore the other teams fouls. The Broncos should have had 5 more penalties along with our stupid 17.

I thought he looked good for his first outing.

I'm not too worried about the penalties in the pre-season, the NFL is ALWAYS way more by the book in the pre-season than they are in the regular season.

Despite the 2 penalties one of which was questionable. He’s a rookie and will make mistakes but he’s going to be the starter.

this is what I saw as well. But he HAS to get the penalties under wraps or its going to kill drives for us. By midseason this kid should be completely dominant.

But especially on that pick by Cooper, we can see that he had almost no time to throw as he did all night and the penalties killed any hope of Rush doing anything.
