Despite the 2 penalties one of which was questionable. He’s a rookie and will make mistakes but he’s going to be the starter.

i thought he looked good.
some of those calls were bogus.
but i think he's gonna be an excellent pro.
Agree 1000% but I'm not sure it is fair to compare tonight with what happened last year entirely. What happened last year was with the starter, not so much tonight. IF this is still an issue after game one.......I'm concern
How are those holds? Looks to me like he's trying to position himself in the first one and ends up dominating the player. The second one is ridiculous. He's pushing the player back who falls on his own. So, essentially the player got the benefit of a dive because Smith owned him. I don't think either of those should have been holding.
Shouldn’t matter if it was starters or backups. If the entire offseaskn’s emphasis was cut out the penalties and in your first game you have 20 or so called penalties, that’s just really disappointing.
And a lot of them were due to laziness and stupidity, which is the biggest concern. It’s one thing to have a questionable roughing the QB. It’s another when you a crap ton of dumb stuff like offsides on a FG, false starts, illegal formations, etc.
What would you do to fix the problem that you are convinced MM and coaches haven't done?
On pace for 34 penalties for the year nice
Where's the penalty?
Typically I'd agree, but his upside is Larry Allen, and worth the risk. He has a pretty good shot at hitting his upside, and I dont see him as being boom or bust as much as some do.That's not a good thing for a first round pick.
Where's the penalty?
The coaches said they would fix it in the off-season. Through one game whatever they did, focused on, tried to drill into their heads didn’t work.
Are you really gonna just throw your hands up and pretend this isn’t an issue that needs fixing?
If penalties are a problem again this year, that’s a coaching issue.
