Looking at the defense as it stands right now, there is no denying Dallas has a beast in Parsons and a top quality CB in Diggs. I am curious what DE Sam Williams can bring this season and hope some of the younger players can develop.
Going forward Dallas needs another quality CB to pair with Diggs, another LB that can free up Parsons to flip between LB to DE, a big bodied beast at the DT position, and a DE to put DLaw to pasture (perhaps Williams?).

Both Diggs and Parsons will be looking at new contracts not too long off so in the next 2 drafts Dallas has to nail their early picks. Unfortunately, they also need to replenish the OL with another starter to partner with Martin and hopefully the younger Smith.

I think they will be better at run defense,if they can stop giving up big plays then they will take the next step.

The only concern area of the defense is DT. But, the league has changed so much since the Cowboys last had a defense with this kind of depth and marquee talent, I’m not sure it’s actually a concern.

Defense will have to win us games.
The Cowboys are a very good team. They will have double digit wins. I am so excited to see them play this season. Especially on defense. They are a very deep team. They management has done an excellent job in putting the team together. They need to come on strong and get the first 2 wins at home and then beat the Giants on the road. They have the team and the coaching to do it.

I don't think we are far off.

Could have done with Joseph stepping up to make me feel better about things.

If Williams can have a "solid" rookie season, we are in with a chance of having a 3 and out D.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
A big key is that it's the 2nd year for Quinn.

The 1st season for a new D-Coordinator is always difficult because all players and some coaches are learning the scheme. The reason they signed and started Kazee and Neal in 2021 was due to their experience in the scheme.

Now in year 2 Quinn has players with a year in the scheme and more new players picked to fit the scheme.

It is amazing that they played as well as they did in 2021 considering injuries and being in year 1 of the scheme. DLaw, Gregory & Gallimore missed a combined 27 games. Vander Esch could barely run in game 1 but was one of the best players in the playoff game. Rookie DT Odighi had to play too many snaps. Neal was not a LB but played there anyway. They had 12 games missed by Safeties.

Very recently we had a defense that set records for all time ineptitude. Quinn took a rag tag squad and turned them into a playmaking unit. They have drafted to get better and added a vet like Anthony Barr. Are they a lockdown defense? Maybe not quite. Are they a group that make things easier for the offense? Absolutely.

ANd don't sleep on the addition of Turpin...he is a gamechanger in the return game.

The next challenge for this defence is to be able to manage the game when playing against a wily vet like Tom Brady.

If he sees excessive rotation on the DL, then I would not be surprised to see him go to a "hurry up" offence and stop the Cowboys from making substitutions.

The team has to be prepared for those QBs who are almost like offensive coordinators on the field. They can make play calls while coming up to the line and run our players down.
