Players extend early for insurance. What if they get really sick or hurt? What if their position or stye of play lends itself to a lot of wear and tear and so a production drop is likely? What if they're juicing and want to cash in before they got caught? What if there is a team that is currently desperate and willing to overpay? Lots of potential reasons.
You mean get hurt like Dak did?

While we are at it......... let's put serious number on it. By time he signs we are probably looking at $35M

Who is the highest-paid defensive NFL player?

Who is the NFL's highest-paid defensive player? To no surprise, Aaron Donald leads all defensive players in average annual salary this season at $31.66 million. The Los Angeles Rams gave the three-time Defensive Player of the Year a three-year, $95 million contract in June.Aug 18, 2022

10 years, $250 million fully guaranteed, incentives to make more. Thoughts?

First off you cannot extend him until after next season.

Second of all he is not going to take that deal. He is almost certain to get 33-34 million per year (aka more than Donald) so why would he take 25? The cost of drafting great players is that they get paid. Now granted it will not affect the salary cap until 2026 but he is going to get paid.

This is silly. Just like when Jerry gave Zeke a new contract with two years left on his old one.
The player rarely gives a discount for doing it early and there is still injury possibilities.
