Cooper Rush and Dak Prescott are almost the same age, just seven months apart. Cooper has been a Dallas Cowboy since the 2017 season. This is his sixth season.

Why has it taken the Cowboys so long to discover they had this "gem"?

Cooper Rush has been developed by the Cowboys coaches to be a serviceable backup so long as he is backed up by a team committed to stepping up and making up the difference in abilities between him and Dak. That's what happened.

The team and their coaches responded to the call. This is where the credit belongs and this should be something fans need to be excited about because it means the entire team has turned a corner. This is not a team of a half dozen great players surrounded by warm bodies. This team is talented and that is what needs to be recognized and celebrated.

Yes, Cooper, a part of this team, responded as well. However, if you think he could take over a game with his passing, escape a strong pass rush with his physical abilities, or dive into an endzone by turning into a RB after he leaves the line of scrimmage, then I will need visual proof of that belief.

Let's enjoy the wins and hope for the continuing success of our entire team, including Cooper Rush, instead of turning two victories into a ridiculous quarterback controversy.

OK, three games. Means nothing right. I can just imagine halfway through the season. And he still doing the same good things. If not better. Because of experience on the field. imagine having the next Tom Brady, it’s all a dream. Because Prescott is back before it ever , Had a chance to happen. , or not
I know I'm late to the party but...

no.

Rush will be a good bus driver.
Any higher expectations, ruffians, and you are whistling Dixie past the graveyard under the bridge.

Speaking of if's, what if Gallup makes the way for Rush to do it. It is not out of possibility for Rush to get 300+ with no turnovers and a few td's. I think it could be a possibilty without Gallup. What if Turpin takes a step in the receiving game

We would know a lot more about Rush if they let him play the next two games. I realize very few games are easy wins, but Dallas eked out two wins in games where our D was smothering the opponent. Hopefully Gallup can help with that.

There is nothing phenomenal about Cooper Rush so far in his career. 171 yards per game is exactly what I expect a back-up QB in a passing league to do.
Don’t need to throw for 250/300 3 tds wen rush is in our running improves more balance why throw for all those stats wen we’re ahead n milking the clock genius

Cooper Rush is doing his job, admirably, and the defense has held every opponent to 17 or less in his starts.

Imagining "the next Tom Brady" is getting a bit carried away. Let's see Rush rally his team and put up 30+ to steal a victory, once, before making such proclamations.
It was a fun thing to think about. That’s all.

If Cooper had an average NFL arm I’d say it’s possible. But he barely has an NFL arm. At some point that limits you as a QB, so no.
Joe Montana didn’t have a big arm . No I’m not comparing I’m just saying

He can be a good bus driver.
Don't see any glaring weaknesses
Reads pre-snap and knows who should be open.
Overdue for a pick today as he will throw into tight coverage as he should, that bites everyone sooner or later.
the best QB on the roster by a lot.

If Cooper plays and wins against washington, rams, and eagles and starts putting up 300-400 yards per game 3 td+ and no turn overs, there will be an actual qb controversy for this year.

I think he'd have gotten close had CD not dropped one earlier.

I'm at a loss why so many fans want to paint this picture of Rush being some saviour who's come from under a rock to become a star QB.

OK, I'm not at a loss, we all know it's to knock Dak.

If Daks career ended today, I can only imagine what all these fans would be saying a year from now at our pedestrian offence led by Rush the bus driver.

Hes done really well but he is what he is. His arm is weak as **** and my heart stops when he airs it out as it floats forever.

Honestly folks, stop the fake "love" for Rush, let him steer the team until our starting QB returns.

The thought (among some) is that Cooper Rush is better than Dak and the belief is that Dak struggles when the opposing defense shuts down the run. So, let's see what Cooper Rush is able to do it an opposing defense is able to shut down or limit our run game. And as you say let's see if Cooper Rush has the ability to rally the offense or keep the Cowboys in games when the defense isn't having such a great day.

The difference in games where the team fell behind multiple scores with Dak as the QB and games with Cooper Rush. When the offense went through multiple drives or a period of time in which they couldn't score or move the ball much. Is the defense with as the Dak QB, wasn't able to limit and shut down the opposing offense while our offense was in a lull. So the Cowboys fell behind multiple score and Dak had to attempt to rally the offense back. Thankfully the defense in this last two games were able to shut down the opposing offenses, while our offense was in a lull. So we have yet to see what Cooper Rush is able to do if the defense can't do what it did during the last 2 games and Rush is in a position where he has to rally the team from behind or he has to match the opposing offense TD for TD, if they score 30+ points.
