Zack Martin makes more than Tyron.
You aren't getting a good OG in here for the minimal savings.
And its not like there are good OGs lying around waiting to hit free agency.
Connor Williams got 7M a year as a guy that was benched.
I never said you were getting a hall of fame caliber player. Outside the top 10 guys no one is making $10MM this year. With the cap going up again the probably changes slightly, but Honestly I’d be perfectly fine with having Connor Williams at that $7MM. OGs are a lot easier to find. If I had any confidence Tyron can play a full season this is t a debate. Having smith and smith on the left side is a dream situation, but not if it’s only for 10 games a year.

The FO (Stephen) has been saying the plan is to make Tyler the long term guy at LT, and this season has given a glimpse into what he can be...thumbs up.

I'd like for the FO to extend Connor McGovern soon to have a LG to go with Tyler next season. Connor is playing better than Connor Williams was last season and we saw the type of deal he got. Thing is the Cowboys will be losing out on a 3rd round pick who is finally providing a ROI and is a starter in the league.

It’s foolish to make a declaration now considering the many possibilities of the upcoming off-season.

I have a feeling Tyler is going to be very good to great at guard or left tackle. good lineman generally dont miss a beat moving around. I would play the best five always.

Agreed. The hard stance crowd on 90% of issues tends to be pretty foolish. Tyron may come back and play like an all pro for 7+ weeks and be a legitimate difference maker for this team en route to a super bowl. Granted then the narrative probably just changes from releasing the guy to trading the guy, but still your post if valid. Discussion is good, but let's keep an open mind here.

If we went just with the popular opinion both coordinators would have gotten other jobs last year, MM would have been fired after the Tampa game, We wouldn't have a 1st round pick because we would have given it up for Sean Payton, La'el Collins is starting at RT while Steel is wasting his prime as a swing tackle, and the year prior draft we wouldn't have had Parsons because we would have given up another pick to move up and grab a CB.

Please do. Your lessons are wildly entertaining.

no problem……

each team gets the same amount of money to spend and no more. So who you pay and how much is really important.

so paying a guy 13 million that rarely plays, that you have replaced already with a first round pick would be really really stupid.

let me know if you need further assistance.

Thanks. You'd accelerate $8M of pro-rated bonus by cutting him before next season. Cap savings would be about $9.5M. $10M for a starting LT of Tyron's calibre, even if you only have him for (say) 10 games, is excellent value. Or you can get a guy like Riley Reiff for that money.

Honestly, you'd expect someone who knows as little as you to be less aggressive. Perhaps the problem isn't mere ignorance.

Im not talking about this year, that much I agree with. Im talking about next year

That’s fair. But if Tyron is back next year I’m leaving him at LT.

I’m also 100% good with drafting a LT if it’s BPA.

If think Tyler can be a good LT but potentially an all pro LG.

I understand putting Tyron back there when he is healthy, and moving Tyler to LG for the balance of 2022. Thats our best line this season, and that gives us the best shot at a deep playoff run. However counting on Tyron past this season would be foolish. It would also be foolish to keep Tyler at G.

Ive heard some say Tyler's more suitable to play OG in the NFL. This is false, and a misunderstanding of him as a prospect. Smith's measurables and skill set scream OT. His length, knee bend and lateral agility and hip flexibility are all there to be a dominant pass protectors. Add to that his rare power and aggression and you have a player with the Trent Williams tool kit. Smith is an OG only of there is no other place to play him, or of he fails at OT. To me if you classify him as the later after this season, you need the exercise more patience.

His 2023 has been checkered, but also has shown alot of positives after coming into the NFL so raw and spending the offseason at OG. He has shown himself to be a self starter and has hooked up with the most renowed OL trainers out there in Duke Manyweather. With a full off season program at LT, I see him being a plus starter at LT in 2024. I think it will be time to move on from Tyron, and on to Tyler after 2022
I agree and really believe Tyron won’t be back next season just like Steele’s decision with Collins. They proved they can be solid starters at cheaper rates. Both Tackles need work in pass protection but both are hard workers and do what it takes to get better

I said this months ago. We have a potential franchise LT for the next ten years. Let's give him a chance to see that potential through.

I share the OPs opinion for 2023, let him settle into his LT spot.

however, I was against moving Tyler inside this season,

after watching Tyler last few weeks , If Tyron is fully healthy, i say now that our best 5 would be to kick 73 inside and have 77 back for the stretch run to finish 2022..

hes had some growing pains against younger fast DEs Hutchinson and that NYG DE were creating him to be holding a lot again, even some offsides penalty's trying to get jump .. not that hes been bad but given we want to be our best for the stretch run, 77 would be welcome addition. it gives us flex and depth all along the line.

We have a starting LT. A good one, a young one.

10 million can pay for something we actually need. Last thing we need is to count on a guy you can’t count on.

he doesn’t play. Good riddance.

You don’t hold a candle to me. Go back to bed little dog.
